Responsibilities

  • Implement the complete time capture process, ensuring compliance with regulatory and union work rules.
  • Review and reconcile timecards ahead of payroll runs on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports, including timely data entry.
  • Retain historical time and attendance records for audits and inquiries.
  • Prepare off-cycle payroll checks with accurate time records.
  • Maintain and test payroll systems during upgrades and rule changes.
  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries from project teams or staff.
  • Act as a liaison between the Payroll team and project teams to ensure accurate recording of work hours.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Payroll Administrator to manage and ensure the accuracy of end-to-end time capture and reconciliation of timecards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement end-to-end Time capture process, including regulatory and union work rules, audit, time transfer, reporting, and filings
  • Review and reconcile timecards before weekly and bi-weekly pay runs
  • Prepare and review weekly timekeeping/payroll reports, including data entry and associated reporting
  • Retain time and attendance records for historical questions and audits
  • Prepare and audit time records for daily off-cycle checks
  • Maintain and test systems during enhancements, upgrades, or new work rules
  • Research and resolve complex payroll inquiries from project teams, business services, or team members
  • Liaison for Payroll team with project teams, ensuring correct recording of worked hours


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five years payroll experience in a multi-state environment
  • Preferred knowledge of Passport timekeeping, Oracle payroll, or ADP
  • Experience with unions and CPP certification a plus

  • High accuracy in following complex processes and implementing improvements
  • Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act, state payroll requirements, federal and state payroll taxes, and standard accounting procedures

The base pay range for this role is $37.50 - $50.62. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
