Position Overview

This position is responsible for the technical supervision and support of daily pathology laboratory operations to ensure quality of work/compliance with policies and procedures. Applies their knowledge and experience to guide and act as a resource to other staff members and promote a cooperative atmosphere. They ensure respectful communications, respond to challenges and obstacles, make decisions, take appropriate action and provide solutions. They are also responsible for assisting with the implementation of changes and/or corrective actions. In addition, this position may also be required to perform the core duties of a Pathologists' Assistant.

Rotation/Shifts

Days and evenings, including weekends, 8 hour shifts. Rotation to other TOH campuses may be required. For information purposes only - EORLA reserves the right to change.

Basic Requirements
• Certified with The Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA);
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Pathologists' Assistant;
• Specific coursework or experience in leadership, time management, communication/interaction (including presentations), critical thinking, applied investigation, problem-solving, professionalism, facilitation and conflict resolution;
• Knowledge of relevant health care regulations, and advanced knowledge in medical laboratory theory, principles and practices;
• Understands occupational health and safety legislation;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

*Where there are no applicants who hold a current CCCPA certification as a Pathologists' Assistant, applicants who are eligible for and actively pursuing the certification may be considered.

As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.
