Job Description

The Senior Occupational Therapist (O.T.) assesses, plans, organizes and participates in the rehabilitative program for developmentally, mentally, emotionally and physically disabled people. The primary function is to assist in restoring and improving the patient's ability to live an independent and fulfilling lifestyle by teaching activities of daily living (ADL) and work skills. Mentors less experienced rehabilitation staff.

Responsibilities

1.Plans,organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to help rehabilitatethose impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmentalproblems.

2.Testsand evaluates patients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical datato determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.

3.Developsand participates in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussionsto promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, andprevent physical or mental disability.

4.Consultswith rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinatesoccupational therapy with other therapeutic activities (Physical Therapy,Speech-Language Pathology, Therapeutic Recreation).

5.Plans,implements and coordinates social activities and programs to help patientslearn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps.

6.Selectsconstructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligencelevel, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individualfor return to employment, assists in restoration of functions, and aid inadjustment to disability.

7.Evaluatespatients' progress and prepares reports that detail progress.

8.Completesand maintains necessary records.

9.Trainscaregivers how to provide for the needs of a patient during and after therapy.

10.Recommends changes inpatients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs andcapabilities.

11.Teaches individuals skillsand techniques required for participation in activities and evaluatesindividual's progress.

12.May conduct trainingprograms or participate in training medical and nursing students andOccupational therapists in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

13.May plan, direct, andcoordinate occupational therapy program as requested by Director.

14.Performs other relatedduties.

Qualifications

3 years minimum experience in a hospital setting providing therapy to patients.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $93,600.00 - $109,033.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
