Neural Shading represents the convergence of AI and traditional rendering, opening unprecedented possibilities for real-time visual experiences that were once thought impossible. Through innovations like Slang—our open-source language and compiler for portable real-time graphics programming—we're enabling developers to seamlessly integrate AI-driven neural techniques into graphics workloads, continuously pushing the boundaries of what's possible when AI meets graphics.

We're looking for an outstanding Principal Engineer to be a driving force in this evolution. You'll bring diverse thinking and deep expertise in generative AI and simulation technologies to our production team, serving as the crucial bridge between breakthrough research and shipping products. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Define and drive NVIDIA's Neural Graphics technology strategy, setting company-level technical directions for AI-driven rendering

  • Pioneer state-of-the-art neural shading techniques that integrate with traditional graphics pipelines

  • Connect research and product teams to develop modern concepts into production-ready technologies

  • Drive progress in AI innovation for real-time graphics and simulation technologies

  • Collaborate across teams to influence hardware design and establish technical standards for neural shading

  • Drive patent development and IP strategy while making technical decisions crucial to major product success

What We Need to See:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience

  • 12+ years of proven experience with a sustained history of remarkable technical contributions, or equivalent outstanding achievements

  • Extensive knowledge of real-time rendering, neural networks, and physics simulation

  • Background in world models, neural content generation, or AI technologies redefining entertainment, graphics, and media creation

  • Track record of successful technology transfers from research to shipping products

  • Proven track record to lead complex technical projects across teams and take research from concept to production

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:

  • Experience covering fields like graphics, AI, physics, with a background in emerging areas such as neural radiance fields or differentiable rendering

  • Non-traditional background bringing fresh approaches and interdisciplinary expertise from fields like neuroscience or materials science

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD for Level 5, and 272,000 USD - 431,250 USD for Level 6.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
