Job Description: Senior Network and Systems Manager *This position is contingent upon award*

Time Type: Full time

Position Summary:

The Senior Network and Systems Manager is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance, security, and enhancement of classified and unclassified information technology systems supporting mission requirements within the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) J8-S environment. This position serves as the primary technical authority for network and systems administration, information assurance, cybersecurity compliance, configuration management, and end-user support.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Senior Network and Systems Manager ensures the availability, integrity, and security of Local Area Networks (LANs), servers, workstations, applications, and associated infrastructure while maintaining compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and USSOCOM cybersecurity requirements.

  • Serve as the Baseline and Privileged User Certified Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II professional in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, DoD Instruction 8140.01, USSOCOM Manual 380-3, and applicable SIE operational directives.
  • Administer, maintain, secure, and enhance classified and standalone Secret Local Area Networks (LANs).
  • Manage and operate J8-S automated data processing systems and ensure implementation of access controls and network security measures.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain network servers, storage systems, user accounts, permissions, backup solutions, and recovery processes.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server and workstation operating systems, software applications, security updates, patches, and version upgrades.
  • Maintain network certification and accreditation requirements, ensuring continued compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies and standards.
  • Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements and other Information Assurance controls.
  • Support Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements and ensure all accreditation documentation remains current and compliant.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze utilization trends, and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and security-related issues while maintaining a minimum of 95% network availability during duty hours.
  • Manage user accounts, data integrity, password resets, account unlocks, and help desk support activities.
  • Maintain software licensing records, equipment inventories, maintenance agreements, and lifecycle management documentation.
  • Assist in the development and design of audio-visual and technology solutions supporting organizational mission requirements.
  • Support USSOCOM acquisition, lifecycle management, configuration management, and five-year technology planning initiatives.
  • Integrate data sources and support application development efforts, including migration to and operation within cloud-based environments.
  • Ensure all network and information systems are maintained in accordance with DoD cybersecurity policies and DISA security standards.
  • Support activities required to maintain accreditation and Authority to Operate (ATO) for J8-S networks, systems, and applications.


Requirements:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the design, administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise network environments, including Servers, Thick and thin client systems, Network-attached storage devices, Network infrastructure hardware, and Cybersecurity and information assurance controls
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering military Local Area Networks (LANs). Experience may be concurrent with the required seven years of network administration experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience integrating data sources, supporting application development, and/or implementing migration efforts within cloud computing environments. Experience may be concurrent with the required seven years of network administration experience.
  • Baseline and Privileged User Certified Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I certification at time of hire.
  • Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Strong experience in systems administration, network engineering, information assurance, and enterprise IT operations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, mission-focused environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and customer support skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining operational readiness and system security.

Security Requirements
  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
  • Must be eligible for upgrade to a Top Secret clearance within four (4) months of employment.
  • Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Must be eligible for Alternative Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM) read-on.
