About You and This Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Natural Gas Commercial Manager located in Houston, TX! In this role, you will be part of Dow's U.S. Feedstocks organization is responsible for securing and optimizing natural gas supply, transportation, storage, and related commercial positions to ensure reliable delivery of natural gas to various U.S. Gulf Coast manufacturing sites while maximizing commercial value and managing cost and reliability risk.

Dow consumes significant volumes of natural gas across its U.S. Gulf Coast manufacturing network to produce power and essential materials used in plastics, infrastructure, transportation, packaging, and consumer products. Natural gas costs are exposed to market volatility driven by production trends, transportation constraints, weather events, storage balances, LNG exports, and broader energy market fundamentals.

The US Gulf Coast Natural Gas team plays a critical role in maintaining reliable, low-cost natural gas supply across Dow's US Gulf Coast sites. The team manages commercial activity across supply, transportation, storage, contractual positions and market interfaces supporting Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (Dow's Joint Venture asset management entity) and related infrastructure assets.

You will leverage market fundamentals, infrastructure knowledge, contractual optionality, and commercial relationships to optimize the natural gas portfolio across supply source, transportation path, storage position, location, timing, and contractual flexibility. You will participate in physical natural gas markets and executes commercial transactions; however, your primary focus will be supply optimization, commercial value creation, reliability, and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities / Duties

COMMERCIAL OPTIMIZATION AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to ensure reliable and cost-effective natural gas supply for Dow's U.S. Gulf Coast manufacturing facilities.
  • Optimize Dow's natural gas portfolio across supply, transportation, storage, location, timing and contractual optionality.
  • Execute spot, monthly and term purchase and sale transactions required to support operational requirements and portfolio optimization.
  • Evaluate and capture value associated with transportation opportunities, basis differentials, storage economics, balancing flexibility, and contractual optionality to improve reliability, enhance flexibility and maximize commercial value.
  • Monitor and manage commercial exposure associated with natural gas prices, basis differentials, market asset constraints, transportation commitments, storage positions, contractual obligations and supply reliability.
  • Troubleshoot invoicing and closing issues in conjunction with the Scheduler/ Volume Analysts, Invoice Specialist and Counterparties.
  • Accurate entry of all Natural Gas transactions into the system.


COMMERCIAL STRATEGY AND CONTRACTING

  • Negotiate, execute, and manage natural gas supply, transportation, storage, balancing and related commercial agreements.
  • Develop and execute a long-term natural gas supply strategy and develop related business cases supporting supply opportunities, infrastructure utilization, optimization projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply reliability, reduce cost, increase commercial flexibility and enhance portfolio optionality.
  • Support strategic evaluations involving infrastructure development, asset utilization, supply diversification and long-term portfolio strategy.


MARKET ANALYSIS AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and maintain natural gas supply, demand, transportation, storage, pricing and commercial optimization models.
  • Monitor natural gas market fundamentals including production trends, pipeline flows, regional supply and demand, storage, weather impacts, LNG exports and infrastructure developments.
  • Provide market intelligence, portfolio insights and commercial recommendations to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with producers, marketers, pipelines, storage operators, utilities, brokers, midstream companies and other industry participants.
  • Communicate market strategies, transaction activity, contract positions and portfolio considerations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, operations, finance, legal, tax and risk management organizations to support reliable and effective commercial execution.


Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant commercial, trading, supply, logistics, or commodity market experience.
  • Willing and able to travel as required for this role.
  • Flexibility to support the sites during off hours, especially during and after weather or other emergencies.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency process.


Preferred Qualifications

  • An MBA or higher education.
  • Experience in natural gas trading, gas supply, energy marketing, utility gas procurement or midstream commercial operations.
  • Experience optimizing transportation, storage, balancing, and/or physical asset portfolios.
  • Experience evaluating pipeline tariffs, transportation economics, storage opportunities and commercial optionality.
  • Experience with Allegro, Endur, RightAngle, or similar energy trading and risk management systems.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of physical natural gas markets, market fundamentals, storage, transportation, pipeline operations, balancing and supply agreements.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to evaluate pricing, basis differentials, transportation constraints, storage positions, contractual obligations and commercial risks.
