Job OverviewThe Mining Services Engineer III - Autonomous Systems supports the deployment, performance optimization, and continuous improvement of autonomous mining technologies. This senior individual-contributor role combines mining engineering expertise, operational analytics, and autonomous-system knowledge to help customers improve the safety, productivity, and effectiveness of autonomous haulage operations.
The position works closely with customer mine sites, regional Komatsu organizations, distributors, Product Strategy, Sales, and technical teams to assess operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support successful autonomous-system deployment and optimization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Analyze autonomous haulage performance using operational data, simulation, and mining-engineering principles, including fleet utilization, productivity, cycle performance, loading processes, and related operational factors.
- Define, monitor, and analyze operational KPIs and system-performance data to identify, quantify, and prioritize autonomous-performance improvement opportunities.
- Lead or support site-readiness assessments, feasibility studies, operational modelling, and field evaluations for autonomous-system deployments.
- Support configuration, testing, commissioning, and operational validation of autonomous haulage solutions in collaboration with customer site teams, OEM teams, and technology partners.
- Provide technical guidance to customers, Komatsu entities, distributors, and internal stakeholders on effective system use, operational practices, and continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, training materials, recommended practices, workflows, and other resources supporting autonomous-system users and stakeholders.
- Provide mining-engineering and operational input to commercial proposals, including productivity modelling, feasibility analysis, and Total Cost of Ownership evaluations.

Required SkillsEducationBachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred. Equivalent relevant experience in surface mining operations, mine planning, autonomous mining systems, or a closely related field may be considered in place of a degree.
Experience- At least 5 years of relevant experience in surface mining operations, mine planning, mining technology, or a related environment.
- Experience applying mining-engineering principles to operational performance, mine planning, fleet productivity, or similar operational challenges.
- Experience working with autonomous, teleoperated, fleet-management, or other mining technology systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational information and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams in a global, technically complex environment.
Desired Skills- Experience with autonomous haulage systems or related autonomous mining technologies.
- Proficiency with mining simulation or planning tools such as HAULSIM, Deswik, Mine Twin, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with data-analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI and advanced Excel.
- Experience with fleet-management platforms, control systems, system integration, or operational technology.
- Knowledge of Modular Mining or related Komatsu mining-technology products.
- Experience conducting site-readiness assessments, operational modelling, commissioning, or performance-improvement engagements.
- Experience supporting technical components of commercial proposals or Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
- Additional language capabilities relevant to Komatsu's global customer base.
