Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in underground material handling for potash/polyhalite, providing technical guidance.
  • Guide large, complex mining projects ensuring design and engineering standards are met.
  • Evaluate and select mining systems based on project requirements and constraints.
  • Coordinate with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders through meetings and communication.
  • Conduct client requirement discussions, value analysis, and cost estimates for project budgeting.
  • Participate in constructability reviews to ensure project feasibility.
  • Perform quality assurance and control on projects, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Lead the creation of new standards and specifications for mining operations.
  • Review project scopes, budgets, and designs to facilitate alignment and resource allocation.
  • Assess proposals for mining projects and assist in decision-making processes.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Consultant with subject matter expertise in underground material handling for potash / polyhalite to support a strategic global project.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Subject matter expert in underground material handling for potash / polyhalite and ability to provide technical guidance to a team of global engineers and designers.
  • Provide technical guidance for large projects of high complexity.
  • Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all mining engineered systems.
  • Participates in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Participates in constructability review.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
  • Leads and provides guidance in the development of new standards and specifications for the mining group.
  • Review project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
  • Reviews proposals for mining projects.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
  • 20+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferably with a strong operational background in career.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
