About the Job:

The Senior Mine Accountant will report directly to the Controller. The role participates in the period end close process for the mine, in partnership with other team members. A key component of the role is communication and collaboration with the peers and the operation team. The ideal candidate possesses strong progressive accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end close process for the mine site, ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Prepare journal entries, including reclassifications and accruals and corrective entries.
  • Prepare account analysis to support financial statement accuracy and audit readiness. Prepare reports and reconciliations to support financial statements.
  • Analyze cost reports monthly variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets across accounts and cost centers.
  • Maintain Accounts Payable, record invoices if is needed and control the timely payments including weekly cash calls.
  • Responsible for calculating and preparing all royalty related transactions.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls specific to mine site accounting activities and participate in periodic control reviews.
  • Maintain proper supporting documentation in compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
  • Supports the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to internal SOX controls.
  • Support Internal and External Audit, prepare and coordinate the requested deliverables from Internal and External audit
  • Prepare and maintain tax calculations and filings, including mining and other local taxes. Respond to internal tax requests and corporate inquiries.
  • Prepare monthly reports and reconciliations related to Capital Projects. Review and advice on AFE submissions.
  • Lead or support special projects, such as system upgrades, reporting enhancements, cost modeling initiatives, or process improvement efforts.
  • Perform periodic warehouse and assets cyclical counts
  • Inventory valuation materials and supplies, work in progress finished goods and ore Stockpile.
  • Responsible for transactions related to insurance, making sure that all support is available.
  • Payroll process supervisor, including responsibility for payroll accruals and account reconciliations
  • Foster strong working relationships with operations, engineering, procurement, maintenance, and corporate finance teams.
  • Manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with a positive, solution-focused attitude.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and productive team environment by demonstrating reliability, accuracy, and proactive thinking.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills


Positions Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related equivalent
  • Approximately five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in general accounting.
  • Two to three years of staff supervision experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, internal controls, and public company reporting.
  • Working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, production, and general mine operations accounting procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills using a variety of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Experience working in an Oracle and ADP environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated management, leadership and problem-solving skills. The job encounters diverse problems and must determine the appropriate solution by adapting previous precedents.
  • Team-oriented, with excellent relationship building and communication skills.
