Full Job Description
Position Summary:

We're seeking an execution-driven Senior Electrical Engineer to be a technical leader in the hands-on implementation and delivery of our robot's electrical systems. In this role, you will be an individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and testing critical subsystems including: power distribution, BMS, system level communications, and wire harnesses and ensuring these systems scale from early prototypes to robust, fault-tolerant production hardware. Candidates should bring deep experience delivering complex electromechanical products, along with demonstrated excellence in technical leadership, deep ownership, bias for action, delivery, and mentorship.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the electrical platform architecture for the humanoid robot, including battery systems, power distribution, grounding, and protection across the full machine.
  • Design and deliver power management electronics, including high power capable switches, pre-charge circuits and monitoring systems.
  • Design the robot's wire harness and interconnect system-architecture, connector selection, current/voltage-drop budgets, routing, and strain relief from prototype through production.
  • Define and integrate battery systems in partnership with pack, BMS, and cell suppliers, addressing capacity, safe operating limits, charging, protection, and thermal considerations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, controls, and technicians to route power and signals through a tightly packaged robot, resolve integration issues, and optimize for mass, serviceability, and reliability.
  • Lead system-level analysis and validation-power budgets, fault and safety analysis, load and thermal testing-and drive root-cause analysis of electrical issues across the platform.
  • Drive the designs through DFM/DFA and production release with manufacturing and supply chain, establish platform electrical standards, and mentor engineers and technicians.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience delivering complex electrical systems from concept through production (or MS + 5 years), including shipping hardware into volume production.
  • Strong core electrical engineering skillset: schematic design, PCB layout (e.g Altium), power electronics/regulation, component selection, and system-level electrical integration.
  • Demonstrated experience designing battery systems for high power products, including packs, BMS integration, charging, and safe operating and protection requirements.
  • Deep understanding of power electronics fundamentals and working with high current systems. Experience designing power distribution for complex electromechanical systems, including protection, grounding, and fault analysis.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and building wire harnesses and interconnect systems-connector selection, current and voltage-drop budgeting, harness routing, and fabrication.
  • Strong communication, ownership, and a collaborative, cross-functional approach, with the ability to reason about the electrical system at the whole-product level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with robotic systems, preferably humanoid and/or manipulation robots.
  • Experience with high speed communications protocols such as Ethernet and PCIE.
  • Experience with high-voltage or high-current battery systems and associated safety standards.

Walden Robotics offers a competitive total compensation program, including salary, annual cash bonus, company equity, company-subsidized insurance programs, 401(k) with company match, flexible PTO, daily lunch, and other benefits. The pay ranges noted on our posts are for salary only.

The pay range for this role is:

199,000 - 265,000 USD per year (BOS)
