Full Job Description
Position Overview: As a Senior Medical Writer in the Clinical Communications team, you will be a pivotal player in crafting high-quality, scientifically accurate content aimed at educating oncology care providers. Your work will directly contribute to improving patient care outcomes in the field of oncology. You will collaborate closely with a Scientific Director (SD) and an internal team to develop content across various mediums, including print, digital, video, and live events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Development:


  • Perform extensive literature reviews on various disease states, therapeutic advancements, and clinical data.


  • Develop high-quality medical and scientific content for print, digital, video, and event deliverables targeted at oncology professionals.


  • Create content that is aligned with the strategic objectives of the activity, including manuscripts, slide decks, discussion guides, and video-based educational tools.


  • Ensure the scientific and clinical accuracy of all content through a global fact-check of referenced literature and appropriate annotation following AMA style (11th edition) and in-house guidelines.


  • Review and edit content at multiple stages, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and relevance for the target audience.


  • Independently address and incorporate feedback from clients, peer reviewers, and faculty authors throughout the content development process.


  • Collaborate with creative services to ensure that revisions and appropriate changes are addressed within the scope of the project.


  • Collaboration and Communication:


  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success, communicating effectively with internal professional services, clients, and key opinion leaders.


  • Regularly interface with internal teams, clients, and faculty during meetings and project discussions.


  • Compliance and Review Process:


  • Support the preparation of materials for pharmaceutical promotional review processes, ensuring compliance with submission requirements.


  • Revise content as needed through its internal and external reviews during the project lifecycle, adhering to medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review process requirements.


  • Medical Event Attendance:


  • Attend live events such as professional conferences, advisory boards, and video productions to capture key content for project deliverables.


  • Produce high-quality editorial materials, such as executive summaries, articles, and presentations, based on event coverage.


  • Management and Mentorship:


  • Support and train direct reports to independently accomplish all essential roles and responsibilities described above. This will require supplying accurate precise directives for each assignment, review and guidance in best practices of writing/editing,


  • Provide training and mentorship to junior Medical Writers and Editors, offering guidance on best practices in medical writing and editing.


  • Assist in workload prioritization for your reports with deliverables and timelines of projects. ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.


Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, DO, MD, MS, PhD) in a healthcare-related field (life sciences, biomedical sciences).


  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a medical communications agency or company, with specific experience in oncology.


  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.


  • Ability to multitask, manage multiple timelines, and solve problems effectively.


  • Proficiency in AMA style (11th edition) and in-house editorial standards.


  • Travel: Ability to travel for events, meetings, and video productions (3-5 days per month on average).


Compensation Range:
$90,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for this position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
