Overview

Wrench Group | Growth & Performance Marketing | Location: Remote with 10%-20% Travel

If you know how to make local media dollars work harder-and you're equally comfortable negotiating a broadcast TV buy as you are optimizing, streaming, digital audio, or OOH-we'd love to talk.

Wrench Group is looking for an experienced Media Buyer to execute and optimize awareness media across our local markets. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how traditional and digital media work together to build awareness, generate demand, and ultimately contribute to leads and revenue.

You'll partner closely with our Media Planner to take local market strategies and turn them into smart, trackable media buys-then manage those investments from negotiation and placement through pacing, delivery, optimization, and performance.

Please note: We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas needed now or in the future.

Responsibilities

What Will I Do?

Own Local Media Buying
  • Execute media buys across broadcast TV, terrestrial radio, digital TV, streaming video, CTV, digital and streaming audio, OOH, and other high-reach channels.
  • Turn market strategies into executable buys with the right audience, geography, reach, frequency, timing, placement, and cost.
  • Manage campaign calendars, insertion orders, trafficking requirements, deployment schedules, and proof of performance.

Negotiate & Manage Media Partners
  • Negotiate rates, placements, added value, make-goods, and vendor terms.
  • Evaluate media partners based on audience fit, local market coverage, inventory quality, cost, and measurement capabilities.
  • Hold partners accountable for delivery, quality, documentation, and value.

Optimize Performance
  • Monitor spend, pacing, reach, frequency, audience delivery, response, traffic, search activity, lead trends, and revenue signals.
  • Adjust buys across channels, vendors, audiences, placements, and dayparts based on performance.
  • Balance the scale of traditional broadcast with the targeting, flexibility, and measurability of CTV, streaming, digital video, and digital audio.

Connect Awareness to Demand
  • Work closely with Paid Search, Paid Social, Analytics, Creative, Regional Marketing, and Marketing Operations.
  • Help connect awareness investment to downstream demand, lead generation, and revenue.
  • Provide clear performance updates with risks, actions, results, and recommendations-not just numbers.

Qualifications

Do I Have What it Takes?

If you enjoy being close to the work; You ask questions when the numbers don't make sense; You know when to push a media partner for more value; You understand that every local market behaves differently, and you're comfortable adjusting the plan when conditions change you will be successful. Most importantly, you don't think about traditional and digital media as separate worlds. You understand how they work together-and how awareness investment should ultimately help create measurable business results.

Ideally, you'll bring:
    • 10+ years of media buying or activation experience, with significant local-market experience.
    • Deep knowledge of both traditional and digital awareness channels, including broadcast TV, terrestrial radio, digital TV, streaming video, CTV, digital/streaming audio, and OOH.
    • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing media vendors and partners.
    • A solid understanding of reach, frequency, CPM, audience delivery, traffic, branded search, lead trends, and revenue contribution.
    • Strong financial discipline and attention to detail-you know where the dollars are going and whether they're delivering.
    • The ability to manage multiple markets, campaigns, partners, budgets, and deadlines without losing sight of the details.
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business, analytics, communications, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.
