This senior mechanical engineering position will provide you with the opportunity to develop innovative solutions and products benefiting both freight and transit railroads throughout the world. Work with a talented team of mechanical, electrical, software, system and test engineers to apply and further develop your mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills.
What do we want to know about you?- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a strong background in product design and development
- Proficient in 3D modeling and Creo or SolidWorks
- Proven expertise in designing mechanical systems for high-vibration environments, such as those found in transportation applications
- Experience in solving complex technical and quality problems
- Strong background in electronics packaging and thermal management
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques
What will your typical day look like? - Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques
- Perform a complete lifecycle product development by leading the design, estimations, analysis, development and validation of complex mechanical systems and components
- Utilize 3D modeling and simulation tools to optimize product designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components
- Work with suppliers on product development activities and assisting with the resolution of component quality challenges
- Provide sound engineering estimates of labor and material expenses for new projects
- Evaluate 3rd party mechanical and electromechanical products by generating validation plans and overseeing testing
- Ensure designs meet all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Continuously research and implement the latest mechanical engineering best practices and technologies
