Full Job Description
RS&H is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Charlotte location.

Job Summary:

This position functions as an engineering discipline lead on conventional projects and may serve as a project lead on small to moderate scope, multidiscipline projects with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to a designated field discipline.

This position works independently, with limited supervision, consistently applying and conforming to established standard operating procedures and technical requirements for projects and discipline deliverables. This position also a

pplies advanced knowledge and the ability to evaluate and propose adaptations to standard methodologies and procedures for non-routine components of assignments; problems faced are typically difficult and sometimes complex.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs all aspects of design, predesign and engineering tasks, including utilizing production software, and developing impact studies, cost analyses, and design requirements.
  • Analyzes and interprets data.
  • Designs a complete project, system, component, or process. Prepares complete project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
  • Performs as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to gain increased understanding of construction practices and design applications.
  • Performs quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key milestones and deliverables.
  • Formulates and solves problems with timely and innovative solutions.
  • Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.
  • May provide technical guidance and assign tasks to junior and support staff for project duration. May also manage discipline and small multidisciplinary teams and ensure adherence to company and project contractual requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.

Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience.
  • This experience includes working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects.
  • Proven experience leading and/or providing technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff. This includes proven experience reviewing others' work for technical accuracy.
  • Proven experience participating in the design and implementation of new services, processes, standards, and/or operational plans that had great impact on the achievement of functional results.
  • Active PE license in good standing.
  • Proficient in production software and construction document production.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound, professional, and business-like manner.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, this position is limited to candidates who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with REVIT
  • Ability to participate in business development, marketing, and client coordination
  • Financial, Workplace, Industrial, Healthcare or AHCA experience
  • Experience with managing staff
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis

Physical Demands:
  • Able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally required to sit and stoop.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job.
