Full Job Description
IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Cincinnati, OH, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects focused on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. In this role, you will provide project direction, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight for mechanical systems in the vertical building industry while working closely with engineers, consultants, and clients to deliver positive outcomes. You'll also work within project budgets, support training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate across teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for moderate to complex projects
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and generate technical analyses and reports
  • Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong relationships
  • Conduct in-process reviews of system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and assistance in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and mechanical engineering best practices while contributing to innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks associated with mechanical systems and prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project interviews and presentations


Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

State of Ohio Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
