This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Irvine, CA.

This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who brings experience across sectors, including commercial, higher education, and multi-family residential and civic projects, and is looking to grow within a collaborative, design-focused environment.

Your Impact
  • Perform mechanical engineering design and technical delivery across a diverse portfolio including commercial, higher education, multi-family residential, and civic projects
  • Support design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, and building systems
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle, from concept development through construction and close-out
  • Analyze and interpret data from site conditions, drawings, and technical documents to support engineering solutions
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sector-specific requirements, including healthcare environments
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Support client interactions and project meetings, building strong working relationships
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
  • Experience supporting projects across commercial, higher education, and multi-family residential and civic projects
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
  • Experience supporting projects from design through construction
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track to obtain
  • Experience working on complex commercial, higher education, and multi-family residential and civic projects
  • Familiarity with California codes and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • LEED AP or sustainability credentials

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $107,500 - $156,600

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
