Qualifications

The Opportunity

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will apply your expertise across the full project lifecycle - from conceptual design through to completion - on a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, retail, and institutional building projects. You will play a key role in delivering technically excellent, cost-effective designs while mentoring team members and building strong client relationships.

You'll be part of WSP's Electrical & Mechanical team, known for delivering healthcare, educational, commercial, residential, recreational, and light industrial facilities, with a strong focus on large, complex projects, sustainable developments, and Alternate Delivery methods including Public-Private Partnerships (P3).
Your Impact
  • Lead mechanical building design projects from concept through construction, delivering high-quality engineering solutions
  • Apply professional engineering judgement to ensure technical excellence, constructability, and cost effectiveness
  • Design and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and fuel systems for complex building projects
  • Ensure designs comply with National, Provincial, and Municipal codes and standards
  • Research and implement innovative and sustainable mechanical design solutions aligned with client objectives
  • Manage select projects including budgets, schedules, and milestone deliverables
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams through meetings, proposals, and business development efforts
  • Mentor and peer-review the work of junior engineers and designers to support team growth and quality outcomes
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario
  • 10+ years of experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $104,100 - $138,000
MB & ON: $95,000 - $130,800
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $88,500 - $124,900
