About the role: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer serves as a technical owner and engineering checkpoint for assigned Double E product lines based in West Bridgewater, MA. This role designs, develops, and modifies products and engineered solutions, applying sound mechanical engineering principles to ensure designs meet customer requirements, internal standards, manufacturability, quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer partners with Sales, Product Engineering, Operations, and Service teams to review orders, support pre-quote and configuration questions, execute new and modified designs, and release accurate engineering packages to production.
This position requires an inventor mindset, customer focus, a high degree of urgency, and a collaborative approach to creative problem solving from concept through production.
Requirements
What you'll do: - Drive quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives on all new and existing designs.
- Act as main point of contact for all engineering-related requests and questions for pre-quotes, configuration, models, etc...
- Collaborate with Operations on prioritization, resource assignment, and timelines to meet the needs of the business.
- Review, edit, and execute all new orders for assigned product lines ensuring designs meet customer specs and internal standards.
- Create CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Maintain SOPs, technical files, and product documentation.
- Answer product, service, assembly, and application questions.
- Mentor junior staff on design and engineering standards.
- Drive quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives on all new and existing designs.
- Serve as the go to knowledgebase for any external customers and internal service/assemblers with questions and issues.
- Mentor junior staff on design excellence, from concept through production, reinforcing technical rigor, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to Double E engineering principles.
About you: - B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- You bring 10+ years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing.
- Previous work experience in CNC machining and machine shop settings
- Experience in industrial machine, web handling, converting, or material handling industry.
- You thrive in fast-moving environments and keep priorities on track.
- You enjoy applying mechanical principles like torque, tension, loading, and deflection and like turning ideas into product improvements, retrofits, and new designs.
- You bring strong 3D CAD skills; Inventor, CREO, or SolidWorks
- You're excited by machining, welding, and assembly and making decisions grounded in customer satisfaction and have an extremely high bar for quality standards.
- Proven ability to improve manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- A strong verbal and written communication with customers, cross-functional teams, and technical documentation & SOPS.
- Successful record of accomplishment of DFM (Designed for Manufacturing) compliance.
Salary Description
115,000 - 125,000 annually
