Job Description

The ideal candidate:
  • Creates, develops and produces basic to highly complex marketing and communications content to support marketing campaigns, brand management, internal programs and employee communications. Brings strong editorial judgment, storytelling ability and audience awareness to content development, including the ability to conduct interviews, synthesize technical information and write polished materials that make complex topics understandable and useful.


  • Develops creative briefs, writes copy, works with designers and other creative partners, and obtains necessary approvals before publishing materials. Develops content using the style, editorial guidelines and channel strategy appropriate for the audience, platform and business objective.


  • Publishes and promotes content across appropriate channels, including email programs, website, social media, press distribution, intranet and advertising. Partners with digital and channel specialists to align content with audience needs, campaign goals and available performance metrics.


  • Manages content assignments and communications programs from concept through publication, including timelines, budgets, calendars, reviews and approvals. Keeps work organized, clarifies next steps, tracks key performance metrics and recommends adjustments based on results, feedback and changing priorities.


  • Provides technical guidance, constructive review and mentoring to more junior staff. Helps develop junior team members' writing, content judgment, interviewing skills and ability to work effectively with technical and creative collaborators.


  • Conducts research, interviews and background review to support the development of communications materials. Demonstrates curiosity and the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar topics, ask thoughtful questions and transfer writing, research and synthesis skills across industries or subject areas.


  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Advanced writing, editing and content development skills, with the ability to produce clear, polished and engaging materials for sophisticated but not necessarily specialized audiences.


  • Advanced ability to research technical information, conduct effective interviews with subject matter experts, ask thoughtful follow-up questions and synthesize complex ideas into useful communications materials.


  • Strong intellectual curiosity and demonstrated ability to quickly learn unfamiliar topics, identify what matters to the audience and apply transferable writing and research skills across industries or subject areas.


  • Advanced ability to collaborate with technical staff, designers, digital/channel specialists, campaign leads and operational stakeholders to make content more creative, engaging, accurate and aligned with business objectives.


  • Strong task and project management skills, including the ability to organize assignments, manage timelines, coordinate reviews, clarify next steps and keep multiple content projects moving.


  • Advanced written, oral and presentation skills, with the ability to explain content recommendations, editorial decisions and project updates clearly to internal stakeholders.


  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as digital channel platforms; ability to use content performance data and stakeholder feedback to improve future communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 4 years or relevant experience

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

USD $85,946.00
Pay Range Max

USD $141,794.00
Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
