Job Description:

As Saab Inc. is preparing to launch manufacturing operations in Grayling, Michigan, we are seeking a Manufacturing Program Manager (MPM) to play a key role in establishing and driving operational success at our new facility. The Manufacturing Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring assigned programs meet or exceed schedule, cost, quality, and performance objectives. This role will oversee program execution from planning through delivery, ensuring all customer requirements, technical specifications, and Saab Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are fully satisfied. The MPM will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage program risks, monitor progress against key milestones, and ensure all deliverables are completed on time and within budget. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing for the Grayling facility and will be expected to travel occasionally, up to 25%, to support program and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage program schedules and budgets with in-depth, proficient knowledge of key manufacturing metrics and financial practices.
  • Collect and report project status (internally and to customers).
  • Lead meetings to effectively present results/content to internal and external customers in technical and program reviews.
  • Support and manage subcontract management, purchasing, and program resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Saab SOPs.
  • Interface with Contracts, Finance, CM, QA, and Purchasing organizations.
  • Generate, track, and maintain program action items and risks via program management tools.
  • Work with Operations to plan and coordinate Manufacturing activities on assigned Projects.
  • Gain understanding of Saab core competencies and products.
  • Become intimately familiar with all Saab program management applicable SOPS and Saab ERP (Oracle based) tools (i.e., finance, procurement, manufacturing).


Compensation Range: $115,700 - $150,500

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Technical or Engineering field is required.
  • 8 plus years of professional experience, relevant course work and/ or related company-sponsored training.
  • Experience with international defense co-development and/or co-production programs.
  • Some experience in Project Management, Manufacturing Project Management/Operations.
  • Experience in Cost Accounting and Reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay highly organized, with strong time management skills and a constant desire to learn.
  • Must be proactive with the ability to follow-up on action items and requests.
  • Results oriented, quality and improvement focused.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment, with various levels of people in the organization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead the development of key suppliers and associated critical processes.
  • Experience in technology transfers and/or new product introduction.
