Full Job Description
Responsible for maintaining/improving the physical equipment within a defined production area. Accountable for full technical ownership of assigned areas. As the Manufacturing Engineer you will work with a team of union skilled trades maintenance technicians, hourly Team Leaders, Process Improvement Engineers, Quality and Business Managers. In this role you will make critical engineering choices and long term plans with regards to equipment and processes needed to make improvements and meet the goals of the area. Position Senior Manufacturing Engineer Location USA, Louisville, KY How You'll Create Possibilities Essential Responsibilities: • Provide technical leadership, program management, and expertise to Plant Operations, to include providing leadership and direction to the maintenance team • Be a point of contact for technical changes to assigned area and accountable for conclusion making process. • Direct and improve Preventive Maintenance plan for assigned area • Root cause based troubleshooting, schematic reading, PLC's and ladder logic programming, variable frequency drives, Ethernet communications, Vision Systems and safety procedures such as Lock Out -Tag Out • Support all plant priorities in the areas of EHS, Schedule Attainment, Spoilage & Yield, Labor & Overtime, Productivity, Spare Parts cost controls and Lean Manufacturing • Execute routine equipment purchases, to include presenting justification for capital expenses or process improvements, design and specification of equipment and standardization of equipment within manufacturing methods and safety requirements • First response to our maintenance employees when guidance or assistance is required. This will include some after hours and weekend supervision • Establish, develop, implement and sustain world-class practices in our Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program and deliver continuous improvement in the areas of up-time and cost controls. Develop and manage the TPM checklists to receive feedback from controlmen. Lead Action Work Outs (AWO) to improve the effectiveness of the equipment • Coordinate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) efforts to ensure operational efficiency goals are met. • Provide support, direction and training to AMEs, Process Improvement Engineers, maintenance, systems and shop projects with specification, drawings, equipment/process acceptance, and trouble-shooting • Initiate and integrate activities to resolve repetitive production problems and implement preventive maintenance programs on key pieces of equipment to improve process output reliability • Provide leadership to hourly maintenance employees to ensure day-to-day production requirements • Establish measured work practices for maintenance employees, to include documentation of work performed and the time required to perform it • Provide training and aid in trouble-shooting and downtime response in specified area of expertise • Steer up-time and equipment reliability improvements through simplification activities • Be the subject matter expert for a specific technical skillset • Own 5S in the area and enforce adherence • Develop and guide cross functional projects with other departments and suppliers to make entire supply chain more robust, driving OEE What You'll Bring to Our Team Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) • 5+ years of technical trouble-shooting experience in high-volume manufacturing. • 3+ years of project management and planning experience. • Weekend or evening required based on business needs. • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership/influence skills. Preferred Qualifications • 10+ years of technical trouble-shooting experience in high-volume manufacturing. • 10+ years of project management and planning experience. • Proven track record in achieving results through structured, methodical problem-solving and team collaboration • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing implementations.
