Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Workday Systems & HR Technology is responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, governance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the organization's Workday platform and HR technology ecosystem. This role serves as the primary owner of Workday, ensuring system effectiveness, data integrity, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives across all Human Capital Management functions.

The Senior Manager partners closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, IT, and business leaders to deliver scalable solutions that support the employee lifecycle, workforce planning, compliance, reporting, talent management, total rewards, and operational efficiency. This position leads system strategy, integrations, reporting, security, process improvement initiatives, and Workday roadmap planning while serving as the organization's subject matter expert for HR technology.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Leadership & Administration
  • Serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for the Workday platform and related HR technologies.
  • Lead the administration, configuration, governance, and optimization of Workday across all HCM functions.
  • Ensure system performance, data integrity, business process effectiveness, and a positive user experience.
  • Establish standards, procedures, and documentation for system administration and operational support.
  • Provide strategic guidance on Workday capabilities, best practices, and future-state solutions.

HR Technology Strategy & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and execute the Workday roadmap in alignment with organizational and HR strategic priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, enhance reporting, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate new Workday functionality and recommend solutions that support business objectives.
  • Lead system enhancements, implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.

HR Technology Strategy & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and execute the Workday roadmap in alignment with organizational and HR strategic priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, enhance reporting, and increase operational efficiency.

Reporting & Analytics
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Workday reports, dashboards, scorecards, and workforce analytics.
  • Deliver actionable insights and metrics that support organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Ensure reporting solutions meet the needs of HR, Finance, Payroll, leadership teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Champion data-driven decision making through advanced reporting and analytics capabilities.


Release Management & Project Leadership
  • Lead Workday release reviews, impact assessments, testing activities, and deployment planning.
  • Manage system-related projects from requirements gathering through implementation and post-production support.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and change management activities.
  • Ensure successful adoption of new functionality through communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.


Stakeholder Partnership & Support
  • Serve as the primary liaison between HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, business leaders, and external vendors.
  • Consult with leadership on HR technology strategy, workforce systems, and operational improvements.
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting, guidance, and support for complex system issues.
  • Develop training materials and resources to promote user adoption and self-service utilization.


People Leadership
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop HRIS and Workday team members, as assigned.
  • Manage team priorities, resource allocation, project work, and support activities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Required Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday administration, configuration, security, reporting, and integrations.
  • Expertise across the Workday HCM suite, including workforce management, talent, recruiting, learning, total rewards, payroll support, time and absence, reporting, security, and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations, employee lifecycle processes, and HR technology best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex system initiatives and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining workforce analytics, dashboards, and executive reporting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven project management and change management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.


Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:
  • 7+ years of progressive HRIS, Workday, or HR technology experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Workday.
  • Experience leading Workday initiatives involving configuration, reporting, security, integrations, and process optimization.
  • Experience partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions and operational improvements.
  • Leadership or people management experience.
  • Workday certifications preferred.


Compensation: $120,500-142,500

This role is eligible for a base salary within the posted range. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation may vary for positions based in high cost-of-labor markets.
