Full Job Description
About Security Engineering

The Security Engineering & Platforms (SecEng) organization within Information Security is responsible for protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of CVS Health's data, digital assets, and systems on behalf of our colleagues, customers, patients, and members. The team's security remit spans AI, applications, exposure management, cloud, infrastructure, and data protection - plus the engineering foundations that scale these capabilities across our enterprise. Security Engineering partners closely with product engineering, IT, and business owners to embed security earlier in the SDLC, accelerate time-to-remediate, and shift the organization from reactive controls to engineered, measurable, and automated defenses to effectively counter evolving cyber threats.

Position Summary

This individual contributor role operates at the intersection of Information Security strategy, long-range planning, and organizational health. As part of the Office of Security Engineering (OSE), the Senior Manager drives strategic and long-range planning, owns the operating rhythm that keeps leadership aligned and decisions moving, leads internal communications that make complex security work clear across the organization, and partners with leadership on talent and engagement initiatives that strengthen and retain the SecEng workforce. The role translates priorities into durable operating mechanisms, executive-ready narratives, measurable execution plans, and the cadence and communications that help Security Engineering scale with clarity, accountability, and business impact.

Core responsibilities. The role is organized across three capability areas:

Strategic & long-range planning. Leads multi-year strategy and long-range planning for OSE - translating executive priorities into strategy roadmaps, OKRs, quarterly priorities, program charters, milestones, dependency maps, risk registers, and measurable outcomes. Coordinates across SecEng functions, Information Security partners, technology teams, finance, sourcing, HR, and business stakeholders to keep complex, multi-year initiatives aligned and moving. Produces strategy documents, business cases, decision memos, and executive presentations that are clear and actionable for senior leaders.

Operational cadence & business operations. Owns and runs the SecEng operating rhythm - designing and facilitating leadership meetings, business reviews, team offsites, and strategic workshops that align our operating cadence with priorities. Builds executive presentations and storytelling materials with clear, compelling narratives for senior leaders. Supports business operations that keep the organization running with clarity and accountability.

Internal communications & talent and engagement. Leads internal communications for SecEng, including executive messaging, org-wide updates, town halls, and change communications that make strategy, priorities, and progress clear and actionable across the organization. Partners with leadership and HR on talent and engagement initiatives, driving programs that strengthen culture and retain the SecEng team. Connects communications and engagement to the operating cadence so the organization stays informed, aligned, and motivated.

Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience working in a chief-of-staff, strategy & operations, strategic planning, business operations, program management, or internal communications capacity for senior leaders
• Experience designing and running an operating cadence - decision forums, planning cadences, and intake and prioritization mechanisms - that improves operating models and keeps cross-functional work moving
• Demonstrated experience with long-range planning and business reviews, with the ability to convert ambiguous executive priorities into structured, measurable plans and durable operating mechanisms
• Experience planning and producing strategic offsites, leadership workshops, and team events end to end, including agenda design, content preparation, logistics, facilitation, and follow-up
• Experience supporting functional leaders through business operations such as operating reviews, capacity analysis, and decision support
• Experience leading talent and engagement initiatives that strengthen organizational health, culture, and retention
• Experience building executive presentations and reporting that translate program progress and performance into clear narratives
• Experience leading internal communications for a senior leader organization, spanning executive messaging, org-wide updates, and change communications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical topics clear and compelling
• Strong collaboration, judgment, and influence skills, with the ability to drive alignment across teams without relying on direct authority

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, or enterprise technology environments, with the ability to engage credibly with technical leaders
• Familiarity with common security and technology frameworks or controls, such as NIST CSF, NIST SSDF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HITRUST, PCI DSS, HIPAA Security Rule, secure SDLC, or cloud security best practices
• Experience leading transformation initiatives or change management programs in technology or security organizations
• Experience using data visualization, portfolio management, work management, or business intelligence tools to improve transparency and decision-making
• Healthcare, financial services, retail, or other regulated-industry experience
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, SAFe

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Degree in business, technology, cybersecurity, engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred.
