Full Job Description
This role is designed for a dynamic, high-grit communications strategist and elite storyteller who will serve as the "beating heart" of our fundraising narrative team. This role is a communications and sales enablement powerhouse. You will be responsible for translating complex healthcare priorities, patient care initiatives, research advancements and funding opportunities into compelling, emotionally resonant donor-centered narratives that inspire philanthropy and support fundraising success.

Working closely with the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Senior Manager plays a key role in advancing the communications, fundraising, and engagement objectives. The successful candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller who can independently research and synthesize information, develop persuasive donor-facing materials, and create impactful communications that resonate with a variety of audiences.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises sound judgment, manages multiple priorities, and confidently moves projects from concept to completion.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Communications Alignment
  • Lead communication strategies aligned with fundraising priorities and donor engagement goals.
  • Serve as the brand steward, maintaining standards and messaging frameworks across all touchpoints.
  • Monitor industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation in donor acquisition and retention.
  • Create and own a strategic content calendar that aligns messaging across departments, ensuring a premium baseline of written work.
  • Serve as the final editorial eye and brand steward, ensuring an authentic, human, and elite standard of messaging across all print and corporate collateral.

Storytelling & Content Development

  • Craft compelling, cohesive stories focusing entirely on narrative flow, messaging structure, and audience impact.
  • Develop high-impact donor proposals, cases for support, and customized fundraising materials.
  • Synthesize information from clinicians and researchers to create meaningful impact stories.
  • Oversee the editorial calendar to ensure consistent voice and storytelling across all digital and print channels.
  • Guide the visual execution of your written content, acting as the bridge between raw copy (proposals, two-pagers) and final designed assets.

External Relations & Project Leadership

  • Actively draft media releases and pitch compelling stories to major media outlets to elevate the foundation's public profile.
  • Identify and build relationships with media influencers and digital content creators to maximize event marketing moments and revenue-generating campaigns.
  • Draft media releases, speaking notes, and executive communications for leadership and partners.
  • Manage external agencies and creative vendors, ensuring quality delivery within budget and timelines.
  • Utilize analytics and AI tools to optimize content performance and audience engagement.

Experience & Capabilities:

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising communications, journalism, or related fields.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing donor proposals, cases for support, pitch decks, presentations, briefing notes, stewardship materials, and executive communications.
  • Strong research, interviewing, and information-gathering skills.
  • Proven ability to translate complex information into compelling donor-centred narratives.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor engagement, stewardship, or philanthropy initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Canva, PowerPoint, website content management systems, email marketing platforms, and digital communications tools.
  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers, and external creative partners.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights to improve performance.
  • Experience in healthcare, philanthropy, fundraising, or nonprofit environments is strongly preferred.
  • Portfolio showcasing work samples.
