Job Description

The Senior Manager, Physical Security Operations is a member of the Mayo Clinic Enterprise Physical Security Risk Management team. The incumbent provides security management and security consulting services to campus functions and entities within Mayo Clinic operations. The incumbent manages all aspects of campus physical security staff and liaises with campus leadership and staff to support security surveys, threat/risk assessments, and investigations in coordination with Operational Risk Management. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of security staffing, processes and technology to assure campus security management needs are met. Participates in special projects or assignments or directed by the Director, Campus Security Operations and in collaboration with the Enterprise Security Operations Team and Operational Risk Management Team. Coordinates appropriate security responses in emergency situations. Implements tools to collect and report information in an accurate and timely manner regarding daily security activity and incidents. Responsibilities also include assuring training for campus security personnel and the broader workforce.

Incumbent also oversees all aspects of the General Service and Telephone Office, including but not limited to parking and fleet transportation. Promotes on-going development of all staff and responsible for maintaining a professional environment in which staff can grow and develop.

Qualifications

Master's degree with five years of progressively responsible security supervisory/management experience or Bachelor's degree with seven years of progressively responsible security supervisory/management experience or Associates degree with nine years of progressively responsible security supervisory experience or HS/GED with 11 years of progressively responsible security supervisory experience. Must have a minimum of five years of investigations, interviewing witnesses, and investigative report processing experience. Effective in leading, developing, motivating, and coaching a diverse team of security and technology professionals. Advanced professional and culturally astute communication skills (both written and verbal) are required including ability to generate and deliver executive-level presentations. Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization, including proven ability to confidently lead discussion and negotiate on high risk and high pressure issues while simultaneously building credibility & rapport. Demonstrated ability to tolerate and deal effectively with ambiguous situations and the varying political/cultural environments within the institution, department and divisions. Proven ability to offer guidance on business processes, technology capabilities, vulnerability assessments, and control enhancements and mitigation approaches. Solid knowledge of security concepts and trends, project management methodologies, and relevant healthcare security regulatory requirements. Knowledge and understanding of business process within a healthcare institution preferred. Knowledge and understanding of corporate security processes preferred. Some background and/or understanding of General Service/customer service and call center functions is preferred.

Certified Protection Professional, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, or equivalent, or will obtain certification within two years of hire.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.
