The Indirect Tax Senior Manager is responsible for sales & use and property tax calculations and compliance, escheatment reporting and compliance, managing tax audits, tax account reconciliations, tax engine administration and system management, and tax research.
Preferred location for this role is San Antonio or Texas as our Tax team reports to our office 1-3 times a week, but candidates from any US - based location may be considered to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities- Review sales & use and property tax calculations and coordination with external tax advisors and oversee data collection efforts of internal team.
- Investigates and prepares responses to notices and inquiries from various taxing authorities.
- Perform tax research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution and prepare written documentation to support tax positions taken.
- Manage or assist with tax audits as needed.
- Assist with the determination of the taxability of new products and services as needed including Vertex updates to support new products.
- Review calculations for journal entry postings and review account reconciliations.
- Ongoing development of technical knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations.
Knowledge- Working knowledge of general sales, use, and property tax provisions (not state-specific provisions).
- Knowledge of tax provisions as they apply to online services a plus.
- Knowledge of tax and accounting calculations and preparing supporting work papers.
- General knowledge of SEC and IRS reporting requirements.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
- Ability to conduct tax technical research and analysis in order to provide a recommended solution.
- Must be detailed oriented - with strong attention to accuracy and problem-solving. "Following-up until resolved" skills are a must.
- Excellent computer skills. Skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are a must. Experience with Oracle, Vertex, and Avalara preferred.
- A strong ability to communicate information and ideas both verbally and written so others can easily comprehend communication.
- Ability to successfully work with other departments in the company.
- Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team.
- Ability to manage outsource providers for sales tax and property tax compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements.

Education- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Certifications• CPA or equivalent preferred
Experience• 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience required
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in direct people management required
• ERP experience a plus
• Experience in Public Accounting, Big 4, and Corporate Accounting preferred.

The compensation range for this position ranges from $132,149.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to 193,856.30 USD/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
