Job Description

Objective of the Job:
The Senior Safety Manager will develop, coordinate, and implement all safety policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization. This position holds overall accountability for the Company's EHS performance, including compliance assurance, risk reduction, and consistent execution of the safety management system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Understanding Health, Safety, Environmental, ResponsibleSteel, ISO 45001, and Quality programs while developing or executing strategies to address issues and how they can be integrated into the business plan.
2) Establishes and enforces site EHS governance, including interpreting OSHA/ISO/Company requirements and setting site-level expectations and standards.
3) Knowledge of ResponsibleSteel and ISO 14001 requirements for reduction of environmental impacts and energy reduction, concerns for local communities and stakeholders, and/or preservation of diversity.
4) Serves as the Company's final authority for occupational injury/illness case management and OSHA recordkeeping/reporting determinations, including work-relatedness, recordability, classification, and required reporting, ensuring compliance with 29 CFR 1904 and company standards.
5) Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee and the Executive Committee.
6) Serves as primary site liaison with OSHA and other regulators, including inspections, requests, responses, and follow-up abatement documentation.
7) Intervenes in operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
8) Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
9) Ensures that all required employee training in applicable safety standards is being offered by the company.
10) Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
11) Reviews all BRS Safety Programs for recommended revisions, improvements, and updates to better align with best practices and OSHA compliance.
12) Owns document control for safety programs, ensuring current versions, approvals, communication, and retention. 13) Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
14) Reviews accident and incident reports for opportunities for continual improvement and trend data.
15) Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1) All Safety Manager and Safety Coordinator Qualifications plus the following:
2) Master's Degree or five years equivalent experience in a leadership role.
3) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status
4) Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
6) Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including strong supervisory and leadership skills. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position occasionally requires the employee to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Safety Director has direct supervisory oversight of the Safety Manager(s) and the Department Staff.
