Full Job Description
Major League Baseball is looking for a Senior Manager, Alumni & Player Relations to serve as a dynamic, strategic, and deeply relational professional who will bridge the gap between the executive office and the field, acting as a trusted liaison for current and former Major League players. In this role, your primary mission will be twofold: optimizing media opportunities to elevate our players' platforms and the MLB brand, and building authentic, lasting relationships that ensure players remain engaged, supported, and connected to the game throughout their lifetimes.

Responsibilities

Media & Communications Management
  • Streamline and manage the end-to-end process for current and former player media appearances, ensuring alignments with MLB's brand guidelines and player comfort
  • Brief and prepare players for high-profile interviews, press conferences, and promotional tours, providing talking points and media training when necessary
  • Work hand-in-hand across our Player Engagement & Communications teams to proactively pitch and secure compelling media placements (print, broadcast, digital, and social) that highlight player narratives, community impact, and diverse backgrounds
  • Serve as boots on the ground at player activations, ensuring the player experience is top notch while obligations are being met within agreed-upon parameters, managing stakeholder & talent needs

Player Relations & Engagement
  • Build and maintain high-trust, authentic relationships with active players, alumni, and their representatives (agents, business managers, etc.)
  • Develop and execute initiatives to keep former players actively involved in league events, community outreach, and international growth initiatives, both across our Commissioner's Ambassador Program and larger alumni network
  • Serve as an advocate and ear for the player community, communicating their insights, concerns, and ideas back to the Commissioner's office
  • Coordinate player participation in jewel events, including the All-Star Game, Postseason, World Series, and international series

Qualifications & Skills
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in public relations, talent management, player relations, or sports communications. Experience working directly with professional athletes or high-profile public figures is strictly required
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Sports Management, or a related field
  • Deep, comprehensive knowledge of Major League Baseball-its history, current storylines, cultural impact, and the unique challenges faced by modern athletes
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept at building trust, maintaining strict confidentiality, and navigating complex personal dynamics
  • Stellar written, verbal, and presentation skills; media training experience is a strong plus
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred, given our diverse player pipeline
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, to align with the MLB season schedule

Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
