Job DescriptionPosition overview:MN8 Energy is seeking a highly motivated Sales Origination Manager/Director to drive revenue generation and commercial growth across the Western U.S., with a primary focus on California, Washington, Oregon, and other Pacific markets. This role is central to expanding MN8's market presence through strategic origination of structured energy products, renewable power offerings, and long-term commercial agreements.
The ideal candidate brings 5-7+ years of experience in energy origination, strong understanding of Western power markets, and a deep network of customer and partner relationships across utilities, C&I customers, load-serving entities, and aggregators.
Responsibilities:Origination & Sales
- Lead Western market origination of renewable energy offtake agreements, including PPAs, VPPAs, tolling arrangements, and other structured energy products.
- Identify and pursue commercial opportunities with utilities, C&I clients, community choice aggregators (CCAs), municipal utilities, retail energy providers, and other regional stakeholders.
- Develop, manage, and grow a robust pipeline of revenue-generating opportunities aligned with MN8's strategic priorities.
Market Expansion
- Act as MN8's commercial representative in the Western U.S. region, with a focus on California energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and procurement programs (e.g., CPUC, CAISO, CEC programs).
- Track market trends, pricing signals, RPS/clean energy compliance requirements, and competitive dynamics impacting customer demand.
- Partnership & Relationship Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers across the regional ecosystem, including buyers, brokers, consultants, regulators, and commercial partners.
- Represent MN8 at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings across the Western states.
Deal Structuring & Negotiation
- Lead commercial negotiations from initial engagement through contract execution, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across legal, finance, risk, and development.
- Support development of term sheets, pricing structures, and commercial models that optimize MN8's asset value and revenue streams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with asset development, analytics, and finance teams to align market opportunities with MN8's asset portfolio and development pipeline.
- Provide customer and market insights to guide regional growth strategy and product innovation.
Our ideal candidate will have:- 5-7+ years of experience in energy origination, structured energy sales, wholesale power markets, renewable energy transactions, or related commercial roles.
- Established network of customer and industry relationships in the Western U.S., particularly California.
- Strong understanding of CAISO markets, CCA procurement processes, utility procurement structures, and Western power market fundamentals.
- Proven track record of originating, negotiating, and closing complex commercial energy transactions.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and executive-level presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, travel regionally, and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related advanced degree a plus.
