What is the opportunity?

This role is responsible for development and delivery of major change at RBC Direct Investing (DI), a leading-edge digital investment business undergoing significant transformation, with a focus on E2E execution of initiatives tied to DI's 'big rocks' with an operational lens. The successful candidate will take ownership of individual projects (pods) and oversee all aspects of project design and delivery, from the early stages of inception through implementation, while keeping business strategy and key objectives top of mind. Experience in leading/working with diverse teams, in-depth understanding of the business (back-end processes, automation, client delight through servicing), its fundamentals and competitive landscape, as well as proven ability to effectively navigate high levels of technical and stakeholder complexity are a must.

Furthermore, the role requires deep insight and expertise in operations, such as digital fulfillment, contact center requirements, third party integrations, tools/platforms such as Service Link, Broadbridge, TradeLink, etc. The role offers a structured leadership and personal development opportunity and has high exposure to senior and executive leadership levels of the business.

What will you do?
  • Mobilize, design, lead, and wind down individual strategic projects/pods related to DI's 'big rocks'
  • Own targets and the key business outcomes of the assigned pods(s), tie back to Operational cost footprint (forecast to actuals)
  • Drive material and measureable results, i.e. cost savings, automation lift, calls reduced, etc
  • Proactively identify and manage all risks related to delivery and attainment of the intended business outcomes
  • Maintain strong functional relationships with key stakeholders and groups
  • Maintain a detailed comprehension of the business strategy and the competitive landscape; Combined with your own domain expertise, develop and leverage insights that can identify and prioritize opportunities for improving competitive positioning, as well as business and client outcomes
  • Create a pro-active operational risk identification and control mitigation eco-system within the project/Pods by adhering to the business & enterprise risk framework processes.

  • Demonstrated track record of success with client focus and strategic thinking ("why" in addition to "what"); Holistic perspective with ability to connect dependencies
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills and innate comfort with numbers
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on stakeholder management and obtaining buy in from various teams and seniority levels
  • Technical expertise and business savvy with keen attention to detail
  • Solution oriented, curious and analytical, with strong knowledge of Excel/Powerpoint, and other delivery tools (e.g., confluence)
  • Impact and Influence through partnering and collaboration using a creativity and continuous improvement mindset

  • Strong knowledge of brokerage and investment systems
