Summary

The Senior Manager - Operations (Port Hueneme) is responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end vehicle logistics operations, including inbound, outbound, storage, transportation, and distribution. This role ensures safe, cost-effective, and timely movement of vehicles while driving operational excellence, process improvement, and strong partner performance across carriers, ports, yards, and customers. The role requires a strategic operator with deep vehicle logistics expertise, strong leadership capability, and a data-driven mindset.

Compensation

$118,000 - $134,000/Per Year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day vehicle logistics operations including yard management and port operations
    • Ensure on-time delivery performance, damage prevention, and compliance with quality standards
    • Manage capacity planning and execution for vehicle volumes across regions
    • Resolve operational disruptions, escalations, and service failures efficiently
    • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business growth and cost targets
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, automation, digital tools)
    • Optimize yard flows, and dwell time reduction
    • Lead cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining service and safety standards
    • Lead Key Performance Indicators initiatives (Aging, Labor, Tender objectives, Safety, P&L)
    • Track and analyze KPIs such as cost per unit, dwell time, damage rate, and capacity utilization
    • Prepare operational reports and present insights to senior leadership
    • Use data to support decision-making and forecasting
  • Oversee resolution of issues
    • Monitors process quality issues at all phases of vehicle processing
    • Responds to inquiries from all customers and distributors, as well as GLOVIS National Ops
    • Improve Departmental process and safety audits
    • Conduct safety audits at appropriate intervals
    • Provide direction to their direct reports to successfully meet tender goal and perform safety audits and report the results back to the General Manager
    • Develop Process Improvement initiatives
    • Develops and oversees strategies for the implementation of continuous process improvement activities
    • This position creates and changes departmental processes for continuous process improvement activities
    • This position will create and submit recommendations for changes to the General Manager
    • VPC Budget & Finance Management
    • Manages budget and analyzes trends in labor and other direct costs associated with vehicle processing operations
    • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • 10 -15 years of direct experience in Logistics, Vehicle Logistics, Vehicle Processing, and/or Operations Preferred
  • 7 - 10+ years of supervisory experience Preferred
  • CA Driver's License Required
