Full Job Description
About the Role

The Senior Manager of People Operations will lead our people infrastructure function and the team that runs it. You will own total rewards, payroll, benefits, and HRIS platforms, while also playing a central role in how we integrate newly acquired companies into the platform. This is a leadership role that requires someone who can set strategy, develop a team, and stay close enough to the work to know when something is off. If you thrive in a fast-moving, acquisition-driven environment and are energized by building scalable systems across a distributed workforce, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a people operations team, setting clear expectations, building capability, and creating a high-performance culture within the function.
  • Payroll Operations: Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing across partner companies, resolve discrepancies promptly, and work with partners to enhance payroll processes, controls, and automation over time.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits programs including health insurance and retirement plans, evaluate and negotiate with providers, and ensure offerings meet the needs of a distributed workforce.
  • HRIS Strategy & Optimization: Own the HRIS platform at a strategic level. Driving data integrity, leading system enhancements, and building reporting and self-service capabilities that scale with the organization.
  • M&A Integration: Serve as the people operations lead on acquisitions, owning the HR workstream from pre-close diligence through full platform integration, including payroll transitions, benefits onboarding, and HRIS setup.
  • Training & Communication: Develop and deliver training on systems, policy changes, and total rewards programs. Ensure employees and partner leaders have the clarity they need to understand and act and use our tools and programs effectively.
  • Total Rewards & Compensation: Lead efforts to create compensation systems and processes that scale with our business utilizing market research and subject matter expertise.
  • Compliance: Ensure payroll, benefits, and compensation practices comply with applicable local regulations and company standards across all partner locations.
  • Presentation & Analysis: Create executive summaries providing insight, analysis and recommendations for platform-wide total rewards programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 9+ years of experience in human resources and related functions
  • 5+ years of focused experience in total rewards, payroll, benefits, and/or compensation programs
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions, including HR diligence and post-close integration
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with UKG HCM platforms preferred
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) is a plus
  • Prior experience in home services or a similarly distributed, field-based workforce environment preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed to support partner projects and programs

Who You Are

You are a clear communicator who puts employees and partners first, a creative problem-solver who doesn't let things linger, and someone who moves fast without cutting corners. Above all, you hold yourself to a higher standard: in your work, your judgment, and how you treat people.

What Onboarding Looks Like

In your first 30 days, you will immerse yourself in the platform. Learning our partner companies, assessing the current state of people operations, and building relationships with key stakeholders across the business. By day 60, you will have a clear view of the highest-priority gaps in compliance, technology, and total rewards, and will have established your leadership presence with the team. By day 90, you will be operating as the strategic owner of the people operations function, with a roadmap in place for team development, HRIS improvements, and integration process enhancements.

The 5 Big Things - What Success Looks Like

  1. You build and lead a high-performing team: Success means the people operations team is well-developed, clearly directed, and capable of executing at a high level without you in every detail.
  2. Integrations are fast and clean: Success means newly acquired companies land on our platforms smoothly. Payroll runs on time, benefits are enrolled, and employees feel the transition before they ever notice a gap.
  3. Our total rewards are a competitive advantage: Success is a compensation and benefits package that helps partners attract and retain great people: benchmarked regularly, structured fairly, and clearly communicated so employees actually value what they have.
  4. The HRIS works for us, not against us: Success means HRIS technology is a source of truth. Clean data, strong reporting, and self-service capabilities that reduce manual work and scale as the company grows.
  5. Compliance is never a fire drill: Success means our payroll, benefits, and compensation practices are consistently audit-ready across all partner locations. No surprises, no scrambles, no regulatory exposure
