What you will do:

In this role, you will help advance AECL's nuclear technology and innovation priorities while supporting effective stewardship of Canada's nuclear science and technology mission. We're looking for a Senior Manager, Nuclear Technology and Innovation who can bring together technical insight, strategy, oversight, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery to help ensure AECL and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) remain at the forefront of nuclear technological advancement and aligned with Government of Canada priorities.

Reporting to the Director, Technology, Innovation and Commercialization, you will oversee CNL activities related to the development and deployment of nuclear science and related technologies. You will provide strategic guidance and assess deployment strategies, including investment proposals and business cases for science and technology assets or other models, with a focus on strategic alignment and value for Canadians.

You will monitor and assess contractor performance and contract compliance within assigned oversight areas, contribute to performance planning and evaluation, analyze evidence, verify milestone completion, and provide clear input to performance and award fee determinations. You will also contribute to the Annual Program of Work and Budget and maintain regular performance dialogue with internal and external partners.

You will engage with federal departments and agencies, industry, academia, CNL, and other partners to advance a portfolio of technology stewardship and commercial activities. • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, or another related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in relevant roles.
• Experience working in a nuclear or similar field, including the development of nuclear technology and innovation.
• Experience working in a science and technology environment, with an in-depth understanding of the Canadian landscape.
• Experience working for or closely with government organizations.
• Experience in program management, delivery, oversight, and administration.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, provide credible advice, assess complex information, and support high-profile initiatives related to technology advancement.
• Strong ability to build relationships, foster collaboration, and communicate technical matters clearly and confidently to audiences at different levels of seniority.
• Experience gathering and interpreting national and international developments in technology, policy, and commercial sectors related to nuclear and related technologies would be considered an asset.

What we bring:

Salary:

The hiring range for this role is between $138,800 and $173,400 based on compensable factors such as qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this role is broader than the hiring range. Employees progress through the salary scale over time in accordance with AECL's compensation philosophy and procedures.

What you can expect:

• Location: This role can be based out of AECL's Ottawa or Chalk River, Ontario office locations.
• Chalk River Commute and On-site Presence: If you are based out of AECL's Chalk River office, personal transportation is required, as there are no local public transit services available. This role requires the ability to work out of the Chalk River office approximately 8 times per month.
• Hybrid Work Model: AECL follows a hybrid work approach. On-site presence is required four days per week, Monday to Thursday, to support operational needs and role responsibilities.
• Travel: Some national and international travel may be required.
• Security Clearance: The selected candidate must successfully meet Government of Canada security clearance requirements.
