OverviewThe Senior Manager, Maintenance Control provides strategic and operational leadership for the Maintenance Control organization within a 24/7 Operations Control Center (OCC) environment. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient real-time management of aircraft reliability and recovery, while driving performance in aircraft availability, dispatch reliability, and operational execution. This role includes accountability for outstation maintenance performance and contract/vendor effectiveness impacting aircraft availability and operational recovery, and is directly responsible for AOS reduction, dispatch reliability improvement, and regulatory compliance within the Maintenance Control function.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & OCC Execution- Lead Maintenance Control and Maintenance Operations Technical Representative (MOTR) functions in a 24/7 OCC environment.
- Direct real-time decision-making for AOG/AOS events and IROPs.
- Serve as senior escalation authority and represent Maintenance in OCC coordination.
Aircraft Availability & Reliability- Own AOS, dispatch reliability, and MEL/CDL effectiveness performance.
- Drive recovery strategies and reduce repetitive discrepancies.
Outstation Maintenance, Operational Control & Contract Oversight- Provide leadership oversight of outstation maintenance operations aligned with OCC priorities.
- Ensure operational control of maintenance execution at non-staffed and contract-supported stations.
- Oversee vendor selection, performance, and contract compliance with FAA Part 121 and company standards.
- Coordinate across Maintenance Control Center (MCC), vendors, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Reliability.
- Ensure all outstation maintenance activities meet GMM, MCPM, and regulatory requirements.
People Leadership- Lead and develop Maintenance Controllers, MOTR, and technical staff.
- Manage training, staffing, and leadership development.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management- Drive improvements in AOG response, decision-making consistency, and communications.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks aligned with SMS principles.
Digital & Technology Leadership- Drive use of maintenance systems and analytics to improve performance.
- Support digital transformation initiatives.
Strategic Leadership- Translate enterprise strategy into OCC execution.
- Support long-term planning and organizational design.
Performance Metrics & KPI Accountability- Accountable for achieving measurable operational performance outcomes:
- Aircraft Out of Service (AOS): Drive year-over-year reduction in AOS hours and improve recovery effectiveness.
- Dispatch Reliability: Improve maintenance-driven dispatch reliability through proactive defect management.
- Maintenance Delays: Reduce maintenance-related delays impacting operations.
- MEL Effectiveness: Ensure compliance and decision accuracy per 14 CFR Part 121.
- Outstation Maintenance Performance: Measure AOG response time, return-to-service efficiency, and execution quality.
- Vendor / Contract Effectiveness: Track vendor SLAs, execution quality, and compliance performance.
- Operational Execution Discipline: Ensure adherence to escalation, AOS tracking, and turnover standards.
Regulatory Compliance, FAA Part 121 & SMS Leadership- Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 121, GMM, MCPM, and manufacturer requirements.
- Oversee MEL application and maintenance documentation standards.
- Provide oversight of special flight permits and operational authorizations.
- Integrate SMS Part 5 risk-based decision-making into daily operations.
- Ensure high-risk events receive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in CASS, QA audits, and SMS working groups.
- Promote safety culture aligned with CAMP requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Provide direct supervision, direction, and mentorship to a group of Maintenance Control Duty Managers, MOTR Supervisor, and a Technical Analyst.
- Provide indirect supervision, direction, and mentorship to a group of Maintenance Controllers & MOTRs.

QualificationsREQUIRED:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
- 10+ years Part 121 maintenance experience.
- 3-5 years leadership experience.
- Strong FAA regulatory knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience with refining and implementing effective processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
- Must be experienced in effectively working with and managing a diverse and inclusive workgroup.
PREFERRED:- Experience leading MCC or OCC functions.
- Experience leading multi-site or 24/7 operations.
- Proven reliability improvement.
- Vendor and contract management experience.
Work Environment & Physical Demands- Position is based in the Operations Control Center (OCC).
- Minimal physical exertion such as pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags files, and electronic equipment not more than 30 lbs.
- May be required to work nights, weekends or holidays and extra hours when necessary.
- Computer work, in a typical office environment, subject to critical deadlines.
- This position requires daily on-site presence in our MSP headquarters with occasional travel to maintenance bases and other locations as needed.
