Your Role

The Senior Manager, Group Implementation, leads a team of Implementation Consultants and Specialists responsible for the successful onboarding of groups with ASO, Shared Advantage, and Fully Insured funding types across Commercial Markets. The Senior Manager enables, streamlines, and continuously improves the implementation process through simplification, automation, and AI to facilitate a high-quality experience that drives growth and retention. This position reports to the Senior Director, Group Implementation and is external facing, interacting frequently with senior leadership, sales and account executives across organizations, and leadership from all functional areas within Blue Shield of California.

This role requires a strong compass for cross-department alignment, centered on what is best for our customers, and balancing team workload and capacity to succeed in this critical function. Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Be the accountable owner for the overall success of client implementations, which includes implementation strategy, management, and level-setting of expectations both internally and externally
  • Champion process improvement through simplification, automation, and AI-reducing manual effort, increasing quality, and scaling capacity to drive growth and retention
  • Build, lead, and sustain high-performing teams as a multiplier who develops top talent, creates a great place to work, and elevates the performance of the team and department
  • Serve as a trusted internal partner, aligning and influencing stakeholders across sales, account management, and functional areas to balance capacity and prioritize what is best for Blue Shield and our members
  • Be responsible for creating insights to drive growth and retention, implement process improvements, and deploy cross-functional solutions
  • Prioritize and manage complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously with appropriate urgency
  • Consistently model and display excellent oral and written communication skills suited for various audiences, both internal and external


Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of relevant experience (group implementation, operations, or client management) including 4 years of management experience
  • Requires subject matter expert level knowledge of large complex employer group implementations and working cross-functionally with Sales/Account Management teams, Brokerages and Consulting houses for Fully Insured groups; Self-Funded clients and Blue Shield of California processes experience is highly desired
  • Requires experience in explaining complex concepts, ideas, and solutions for processes, products, and capabilities to a wide range of audiences including presenting to sales, C-Suite, and large group settings
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others using data and market practices across large cross-functional initiatives, business segments, and project teams required
  • Requires demonstrated success improving team performance through process improvement, simplification, automation, and AI to increase quality, efficiency, and capacity
  • Requires expertise in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn new tools; experience with Sales CRM applications like Salesforce and Tableau for reporting is highly desired
