RSM is seeking an entrepreneurial VAT Senior Manager to join our growing Global Indirect Tax practice. This is a market-facing leadership role focused on helping multinational organizations navigate increasingly complex indirect tax environments while leveraging data, technology, automation, and innovative operating models to drive business value.
The successful candidate will combine deep VAT and GST technical expertise with strong commercial instincts, the ability to develop trusted client relationships, and a passion for helping organizations modernize their tax functions. As a key member of our leadership team, this individual will help expand RSM's West Coast market presence, shape innovative service offerings, and contribute to the continued growth of our technology-enabled global VAT practice. This role is particularly well suited for an ambitious leader seeking the opportunity to build a market, influence the direction of a growing practice, and take on increasing levels of leadership responsibility as the business continues to expand.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Leadership- Serve as trusted advisor to multinational clients on complex VAT and GST matters.
- Lead large-scale global indirect tax engagements across advisory, compliance, technology, and transformation projects.
- Advise clients on the indirect tax implications of global business operations, supply chains, ERP implementations, e-commerce models, and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with professionals across the RSM International network to deliver coordinated global solutions.
Technology & Innovation- Help clients modernize indirect tax operating models through automation and technology-enabled solutions.
- Support ERP-related indirect tax planning and transformation initiatives.
- Advise on VAT technology platforms, tax engines, e-invoicing requirements, data models, and digital reporting obligations.
- Utilize data analytics and technology solutions to improve compliance, visibility, and decision-making.
Market Development- Own and grow a West Coast market presence for Global VAT services.
- Build and execute a business development strategy focused on multinational organizations.
- Develop new client relationships and expand existing accounts.
- Collaborate with RSM stakeholders and client service teams to identify cross-functional opportunities.
- Contribute to thought leadership, speaking engagements, webinars, and industry visibility efforts.
Team Leadership- Develop, coach, and mentor VAT professionals across the U.S.
- Foster a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Help build scalable delivery capabilities and innovative service offerings.
- Lead engagement teams across multiple jurisdictions and service lines.
Basic Qualifications- Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Requires a minimum of eight (8) years of progressive indirect tax experience with a major accounting, consulting, legal, or multinational organization.
- Requires one of the following to be active and in good standing: CPA, JD, IBFD certification, CTA, or CA with tax designation
- Deep knowledge of international VAT and GST regimes.
- Experience advising multinational businesses on global indirect tax matters.
- Demonstrated success managing large and complex client relationships.
- Experience with tax technology, ERP systems, automation, e-invoicing, or digital tax transformation initiatives.
- Strong business development capabilities and a proven ability to identify and convert market opportunities.
- Track record of developing teams and mentoring future leaders.
- Existing West Coast market relationships strongly preferred.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $160,000 - $321,800
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
