  • Translate congress strategy into a comprehensive operational plan covering sponsorships, abstracts, symposia, and digital content.

  • Develop and manage booth and digital assets, ensuring compliance through Veeva for review workflows.
  • Oversee agency partnerships to ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables.
  • Manage booth staffing and training for a seamless congress experience.
  • Ensure compliance readiness through proper documentation and training requirements.
  • Monitor and report on return-on-objective metrics pre- and post-congress meetings.

About This Role

The Senior Manager, Global Congress Communications & Excellence, is responsible for the development and delivery of scientific congress content and engagement activities, with deep ownership of end-to-end execution. This role provides onsite congress leadership, partners closely with medical subject matter experts to create impactful medical booth content and experiences, and drives proactive risk management and issue resolution to ensure flawless delivery. The Senior Manager collaborates closely with the Associate Director to translate strategic objectives into high-quality execution and measurable impact.

What You'll Do
  • Translate therapeutic area congress strategy into a comprehensive operational plan, including sponsorships, abstracts/posters, symposia, medical engagements, digital content, and communications.
  • Lead the end-to-end execution of medical activities for congresses, representing Medical on Core and Extended Planning Teams.
  • Develop and manage booth and digital assets, leveraging platforms such as Veeva for review and approval workflows, version control, and cross-therapeutic area asset reuse in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Manage agency partners to ensure deliverables are met within budget and timelines.
  • Own booth staffing, training, and onsite communications to ensure a seamless congress experience.
  • Ensure compliance readiness through required training, documentation, and sponsorship approval processes.
  • Partner with Compliance and Strategic Global Giving to support sponsorship governance and congress-related planning activities.
  • Lead the pre- and post-congress planning cadence for assigned events and promote best practices, tools, and templates across the team.
  • Monitor return-on-objective metrics and support pre-congress planning meetings and post-congress debriefs within established timelines.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS, PharmD, PhD, MBA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in congress communications, congress operations, medical communications, or related functions within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex congress execution, including onsite leadership, stakeholder coordination, issue resolution, and management of multiple priorities, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and collaborate effectively with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Publications, Corporate Affairs, Compliance, Legal, Commercial, external agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience developing scientific communication strategies and translating complex medical content into impactful congress engagement and educational opportunities.
  • Proficiency with content review and approval platforms (e.g., Veeva Vault), including digital asset management, workflow optimization, version control, and content governance.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset and a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, identify innovative solutions, drive operational excellence, and adapt quickly in a dynamic, evolving environment.
