Senior Manager, Games Insights

Games Insights & Learning is a critical function for any Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee (OCOG) - ensuring that institutional knowledge, operational insights, and best practices developed throughout the planning of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games are captured, organized, and transferred across the organization to support successful Games delivery and to other key Olympic and Paralympic Movement stakeholders

Reporting to the VP, Games Insights & Learning, this role will serve as a key leader within the function, helping to shape strategy, establish operating frameworks, and drive execution across the team's core responsibilities.

This role will lead the development of LA28's strategy for the collection, management, and ultimate transfer of LA28 knowledge assets. Working across a highly matrixed organization, this role will develop the frameworks, business processes, and governance structures necessary to capture operational planning documentation, reports, artefacts, memorabilia and other OCOG-produced content (OPC) that contribute to the institutional knowledge and legacy of the LA28 Games.

In addition, this role will also play an integral role in the development and delivery of the LA28 Observers Program, helping ensure future Organizing Committees of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Future OCOGs) gain access to the operational knowledge, expertise, and experiences generated by LA28.

This is a highly cross-functional role, ideal for someone with exceptional strategic thinking, program development, knowledge management, relational management, organizational influence, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing big picture strategy, designing scalable processes, and managing execution across multiple workstreams and stakeholder groups.
Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge Transfer, Content Strategy & Organizational Learning
  • Lead the development and implementation of LA28's strategy for the collection, organization, and transfer of knowledge assets in support of future Games and the overall Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
  • Establish and oversee scalable frameworks, best practices, and processes for the collection, cataloguing and management of OCOG-produced content (OPC) throughout the Games lifecycle.
  • Partner with Functional Areas to identify, prioritize, and capture operational planning documentation, playbooks, official publications, reports, and other materials developed throughout the Games lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage processes for the collection and preservation of Games-related artefacts and memorabilia that contribute to the institutional legacy of LA28.
  • Monitor and manage progress against knowledge transfer objectives, milestones, risks, and dependencies, providing regular executive-level reporting.
  • Develop executive briefings, governance materials, policies, and communications that support organizational knowledge management and transfer initiatives

Observer Program Development & Delivery
  • Serve as a key member of the Games Insights & Learning team responsible for the development and delivery of the LA28 Observer Program for Future OCOGs.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define learning opportunities, observation objectives, and engagement opportunities that showcase LA28 planning and delivery practices.
  • Plan and execute LA28 Observer Program activities, including workshops, venue visits, operational briefings, and post-event knowledge sharing engagements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members supporting Observer Program delivery and related stakeholder engagement activities.

Functional Leadership & Program Management
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the VP, Games Insights & Learning, helping establish priorities, operating plans, resource requirements, and long-term functional objectives.
  • Drive integration across Observer Program and Knowledge Transfer to ensure a cohesive organizational learning strategy.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups and governance forums responsible for knowledge capture, content management, and Games learning initiatives.
Background & Requirements:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in program leadership, strategic planning, knowledge management, stakeholder engagement, management consulting, or large-scale operational delivery
  • Experience developing strategy and delivering new programs and processes from concept to implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives involving senior executives and multiple stakeholders, and evolving business requirements
  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into scalable programs, frameworks, and operational outcomes
  • Discretion and professionalism in managing sensitive information and relationships.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)

Preferred
  • Direct Games experience at a previous OCOG, multi-sport Games, other major event, or museums/cultural institutions
  • Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, iterating, and evolving work
  • Multilingual skills or experience in international or multicultural settings.
Expectations:
  • Strong communication, team building, and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative mindset: someone who prioritizes the team and fosters a culture of high performance and co-creation without ego
  • An innovative viewpoint, willing to challenge the status quo and thinking ahead to the future possibilities within the Movement
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-matrixed team environment, requiring the ability to influence across the organization
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 - $140,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role.
