About the Role

Engine is building a dedicated Risk function and looking for a Sr. Manager, Fraud Operations to lead it on the front lines. You'll own fraud operations across Engine X card, application fraud, and Engine's travel marketplace - building the team, establishing the playbooks, and surfacing the intelligence that drives risk policy. This is the foundational fraud leadership hire as Engine scales.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop a team of Fraud Analysts, setting investigation standards, documentation quality, and performance expectations
  • Establish fraud classification and labeling infrastructure - define the taxonomy, standardize case documentation across the team, and ensure accurate tracking of fraud types for reporting and Data Science model training
  • Build and maintain investigation playbooks and SOPs across fraud types: card fraud, application fraud, Early Fraud Warning (EFW) alerts, and coordinated fraud rings
  • Design fraud detection controls in partnership with Product and Engineering, including application-stage signals and post-approval monitoring
  • Own weekly fraud intelligence reporting to Director, Risk and CFO - pattern observations, P&L impact, and recommended policy actions
  • Partner with Legal/Compliance on escalation of coordinated fraud events and regulatory documentation
  • Coordinate with Credit Underwriting on application fraud signals and with Member Support on high-severity card fraud cases
What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Card fraud operations experience - credit, prepaid, or gift card (not just ACH or marketplace fraud)
  • People leadership - managing investigators or analysts
  • SEON or equivalent fraud detection platform
  • Salesforce case management
  • BSA/AML familiarity
  • Familiarity with KYB outputs and how to read them for fraud signals
  • Strong written communication - ability to escalate fraud patterns to leadership with clarity and impact
  • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) strongly preferred; CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) a plus
  • Fintech, travel, or multi-product marketplace experience a plus
