Position Title: Senior Manager, FP&A
Reports To: Vice President, Head of Finance
Location: Watertown, MA; no relocation provided and in-office minimum of 3 days/week
CAMP4 is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, FP&A, reporting to our Vice President, Head of Finance, to support financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business decision-making across the organization. This individual will work closely with department leaders in Research, Development, G&A, and Operations to provide financial insights, improve forecasting accuracy, and support the company's growth. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced biotech environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Partner with the Vice President, Head of Finance to support the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and periodic forecasting processes.
- Manage clinical development, research, and operational budgeting activities, including analysis of vendor spend, contracts, and program-level costs.
- Serve as a finance business partner to functional leaders across R&D, G&A, and Operations, providing financial guidance and supporting decision-making.
- Support the evaluation of business opportunities, strategic initiatives, and operational efficiencies through financial analysis and scenario modeling.
- Analyze financial and operating results, identify trends and risks, investigate variances, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, forecasting tools, databases, and planning systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Partner with functional leaders and People Operations on headcount planning, workforce analysis, and operating expense forecasting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including budget-to-actual variance analyses and management reporting packages.
- Support the preparation of financial presentations and analyses for senior leadership, Board meetings, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee budget validation and spending analysis related to procurement and purchase order processes.
- Collaborate with Accounting during month-end and quarter-end close activities, including accrual analyses and financial reporting support.
- Support the implementation and optimization of financial systems, planning processes, and reporting tools.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of best practices within the finance organization.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects and ad hoc analyses that support corporate objectives.
Qualifications:Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or other advanced certification is a plus.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related analytical roles, including experience partnering with senior leaders and managing complex planning processes.
- Experience within a clinical-stage biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organization preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Experience supporting clinical-stage biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations, including clinical trial budgeting, CRO management, and R&D financial planning required.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with cross-functional leaders and translate financial information into business insights.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial statement concepts.
- Advanced financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and planning/reporting tools (e.g., Planful, Adaptive, Anaplan, Hyperion).
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively to finance and non-finance audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative leadership style with experience guiding projects and influencing stakeholders across the organization.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract analysis.
- Experience supporting executive leadership or Board-level reporting preferred.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on enhancing processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
Compensation and Benefits:At CAMP4 Therapeutics, we offer a competitive and thoughtfully designed total rewards program. The anticipated salary range for this role is $145,000 - $200,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible to receive an annual bonus and equity incentive opportunities.
