General Motors is seeking an experienced communications leader to help transform how we tell our sales, financial and technology stories to business, financial and investor audiences. This role will apply modern digital tools and platforms across content creation, news and information dissemination, and media and influencer engagement to clearly differentiate GM from its competitive set, help expand GM's stock price multiple, attract new investors.

The Senior Manager, Financial Communications - Technology and Innovation is fluent in financial communications and skilled at turning complex business and technology strategies into compelling narratives. They will be comfortable at the intersection of Wall Street and Silicon Valley, able to communicate GM's work in areas such as AI, autonomous technology, robotics and automation, software and services, battery technology and advanced manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate GM's financial performance, guidance, capital allocation, and sales results into clear, compelling narratives that support valuation and multiple expansion.
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations, Finance, Sales, and Technology Communications leaders to shape messaging that connects GM's financials to its long-term technology, software and services, EV and growth strategies.
  • Define and lead GM's financial and technology communications strategy across earned, owned, shared and paid channels, establishing long-term narrative priorities, measurement frameworks, and data-driven communications approaches that maximize reach, engagement, and business impact with investor and financial audiences.
  • Lead the creation of high-impact content including press releases, digital media packages, executive speeches and talking points, thought leadership pieces, investor-focused explainers, social and video content, and narrative frameworks for key milestones (earnings, capital markets events, technology announcements, product launches).
  • Design and execute proactive business/financial media and influencer engagement strategies that position GM as a technology and innovation leader.
  • Establish and advance GM's reputation as a leader in technology, innovation, and mobility among investors, analysts, financial media, technology media, and other influential market stakeholders.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with influential voices in investing, markets, technology, EVs, AI and autonomous systems who can help broaden GM's reach beyond traditional hedge fund audiences.
  • Ensure message discipline and alignment across all external touchpoints including earnings cycles, major product and technology announcements, capital markets days, investor conferences and executive appearances.
  • Coordinate closely with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, Marketing, Legal and other internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, alignment and compliance in all external communications.
  • Provide issues and reputation management support related to GM's financial performance, capital allocation decisions, technology investments and competitive positioning.
  • Serve as a communications leader and subject matter expert, coaching team members and helping establish best practices in financial, technology, digital and data-driven communications across the organization.
  • Experience providing strategic counsel to executives.


Required Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of experience in communications, public relations and/or investor relations, with a strong track record in financial and markets-focused storytelling.
  • Experience working with or inside large public companies, financial institutions, or leading agencies with significant investor, media or market visibility.
  • Deep fluency in financial communications, including earnings, guidance, capital allocation, key performance metrics, and market and competitive dynamics.
  • Proven experience communicating about technology-related topics such as AI, autonomous technology, robotics and automation, software and services, EVs and battery technology.
  • Proven experience engaging business, financial and/or technology media and influencers.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft clear, concise and compelling content and narratives for executive leaders, investors and media.
  • Expertise using modern digital tools and platforms for content creation, distribution and analytics.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business judgment, with the ability to connect financial results to broader business and technology strategies.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, high-visibility environments with senior executives, handling sensitive information with discretion.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in investor-focused communications for a large public company, particularly in automotive, technology, mobility, energy, industrials or related sectors.
  • Background working closely with Investor Relations, equity analysts, portfolio managers and financial journalists.
  • Experience building and executing digital-first or social-led campaigns targeted at business, financial and investor audiences.
  • Prior experience working within or alongside large-scale transformation, turnaround, or growth narratives.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business, finance or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not required.

Compensation:

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
