The Role
This is a rare, high-ownership combined seat: you'll be both the technical backbone of our accounting and controls function and the analytical partner to the CEO and leadership team. You'll own everything from month-end close, audit, and compliance through forecasting, board reporting, and strategic analysis.
You'll work on a modern, automation-forward finance stack, with an accounting analyst handling day-to-day preparation and reconciliation - so your time goes to judgment, review, and insight, not manual data entry. If you want to own a whole finance function, put your name on the numbers, and directly shape company decisions, this is that seat.
What You'll Own
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
- Own the monthly close: final-level review and sign-off on financial statements, revenue and deferred-revenue recognition, journal entries, and reconciliations (US GAAP)
- Own the annual financial-statement audit end to end - manage the external audit relationship, coordinate requests, and represent the company through fieldwork and management representations
- Own lender/debt-covenant reporting and certification and other recurring external financial deliverables
- Own equity administration and stock-option issuances (cap table / Carta), including board-approval packages and the annual 409A valuation renewal
- Own tax-compliance coordination - sales/use tax, 1099/3921 filings, and the external tax-firm relationship
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and financial policies
Cash, Treasury & Payments
- Own the cash-flow forecast model and weekly cash monitoring; prioritize and authorize payments during the month
- Own AP invoice approval, expense-reimbursement review, payroll review, banking administration, and the corporate card program
FP&A, Analytics & Strategy
- Own the company budget/forecast and the monthly and quarterly reforecast
- Own board-deck financials and KPI reporting; partner with the CEO on strategic, investor, and diligence materials
- Build and maintain SaaS/subscription analytics - MRR/ARR, retention and cohort behavior, expansion, churn, and unit economics - and translate them into decisions
- Partner cross-functionally (Engineering on infrastructure/COGS, People Ops on headcount planning, GTM on growth) to protect margin and drive efficiency
Leadership
- Guide an offshore accounting analyst and use automation to scale the function without adding headcount
- Serve as the senior finance point of contact for the CEO, board, auditors, lender, and investors
Must-haves
- 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience spanning both technical accounting/controllership and FP&A
- Strong US GAAP; has owned a full monthly close and served as the company-side lead on an external audit
- Hands-on SaaS/subscription finance experience (revenue recognition, deferred revenue, MRR/ARR)
- Experience with debt-covenant reporting and/or equity/cap-table administration
- Proven ability to build forecasts, cash models, and board/investor reporting from scratch
- Thrives as a lean, hands-on operator - high ownership, strong judgment, low ego
- An excellent communicator who's comfortable putting their name on the numbers with a board, auditors, and a lender
Nice-to-haves
- CPA (active or inactive)
- NetSuite, Carta, Stripe, Brex, Bill.com, and ChartMogul experience
- Prior venture- or PE-backed, growth-stage software company experience
- Comfort using AI/automation tooling to eliminate manual finance work
- Experience supporting M&A, fundraising, or investor due diligence
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Employer-paid basic life, AD&D, and short- and long-term disability insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- Monthly cell phone and wifi stipend ($100/month each)
- Equity where applicable
