The Sr. Manager of Environmental Operations provides strategic guidance, technical expertise, and operational leadership to strengthen EH&S capability, and ensure regulatory and corporate compliance for a complex manufacturing operation with wastewater treatment plant and a hazardous waste facility. The role partners closely with site leadership to implement prevention-focused programs, build EH&S competencies, and environmental stewardship into daily operations and decision-making.
What You Will Do:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all environmental operations, including hazardous waste management, industrial wastewater treatment, stormwater compliance, air program support, and chemical management.
Serve as the primary program owner for RCRA, TSCA, SPCC, and SWPPP compliance, ensuring all regulatory, permitting, operational, and reporting requirements are met.
Manage the RCRA Part B Permitted Hazardous Waste Storage Facility, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling of hazardous waste across multiple operational functions.
Lead federal, state, and third0party regulatory inspections and audits, including EPA, CT DEEP, Local Fire Marshal, and corporate assurance reviews, maintaining a strong track record of zero non0compliance findings.
Oversee environmental data management systems (EH&S DESK, WIMS) to ensure accurate reporting, performance tracking, and regulatory submissions.
Direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental policies, standard work, training programs, and management system elements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, facilities, laboratory services, and quality to support business objectives while ensuring compliance.
Manage and optimize the environmental operations budget, ensuring proper resource allocation and financial stewardship.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives leveraging CORE tools, enhancing program efficiency, reliability, and risk reduction.
Serve as a key EH&S leadership team member, providing guidance, coaching, and support to environmental staff and operational partners.
Ensure strong customer service and communication with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining high standards of ethics, compliance, and professionalism.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires University Degree andminimum10 years prior relevant experienceoran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
U.S. citizenship isrequired, as only U.S. citizensare authorized toaccess information under thisprogram/contract
5+ years proper experience with environmental compliance
5+ years experience with hazardous waste or wastewater operations
Qualifications We Prefer:
Prior leadership experience
Demonstrated expertise in RCRA, TSCA or SPCC
Experience leading regulatory inspections and audits with federal and state agencies.
Knowledge of environmental management systems and tracking platforms.
Ability to manage budgets, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
OSHA 409Hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain).

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
