Senior Manager - AML/KYC/BSA Knowledge - Digital Assets

Forensic, Discovery, & Financial Crime

Work you'll do

As a Senior Manager, you will lead complex client programs and strategic engagements focused on BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance relating to digital assets. You will serve as a senior advisor to client executives, helping organizations address evolving regulatory expectations while building scalable, future-ready BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance programs. You will be expected to drive engagement quality, manage risk, develop teams, and expand Deloitte's market presence in the digital asset and financial crime space.

As a Senior Manager, you will have opportunities to:
  • Lead large, complex engagements and client programs focused on AML, KYC, and BSA compliance for digital asset activities, with accountability for delivery quality, resourcing, economics, and risk management.
  • Serve as a senior client relationship leader, advising executive stakeholders on current and emerging regulatory requirements and guidance, including BSA/AML, FinCEN guidance, FATF Travel Rule, and OFAC sanctions as applied to crypto and blockchain business models.
  • Oversee the design, enhancement, and implementation of BSA/AML and Sanctions controls and investigative frameworks, including the use of blockchain analytics platforms such as Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM, and Solidus Labs.
  • Guide clients in identifying and responding to AML red flags and risk typologies associated with digital assets, including mixers, privacy coins, decentralized services, and cross-border transaction risks.
  • Lead and oversee teams of digital asset investigators and KYC analysts.
  • Direct teams in the development of high-quality client deliverables, including policies, procedures, enterprise and product risk assessments, compliance operating models, training materials, and regulatory response documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and emerging technologies, translating market change into actionable client strategies and Deloitte thought leadership.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and junior practitioners through formal performance management, mentoring, and team leadership.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent engagements and workstreams, balancing client delivery, quality assurance, financial performance, and talent deployment.
  • Drive business development activities, including account growth, proposal leadership, solution shaping, and relationship expansion within Deloitte's Digital Asset AML/KYC/BSA practice.
  • Lead internal and client-facing training, executive briefings, and strategic discussions on digital asset financial crime risks and compliance program maturity.

Our Forensic, Discovery, & Financial Crime offering provides services to support anti-money laundering, discovery, business disputes, and investigations. We help protect brands from financial crime and other corporate misconduct, and empower government organizations with advanced tradecraft and technology to combat emerging and evolving threats.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Business, Law, Criminal Justice, or another specified field.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, consulting, or compliance, including AML, KYC, BSA, financial crime, and risk management, with direct experience supporting digital asset, virtual asset, or crypto businesses.
  • Experience advising clients on U.S. and global AML and Sanctions regulations and regulatory guidance applicable to digital assets, including BSA/AML, FinCEN guidance, FATF Travel Rule, OFAC sanctions, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience leading the design, implementation, or review of blockchain analytics tools used for wallet screening, transaction monitoring, Know Your Transaction, tracing, investigations, or risk exposure analysis
  • Experience identifying and mitigating AML and Sanctions risks associated with digital assets, including mixers, privacy coins, decentralized technologies, and cross-border transaction activity.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the primary digital assets financial products and/or use cases, including but not limited to stablecoin, tokenization, and digital assets custody
  • Experience with and knowledge of the potential risks associated with digital assets inclusive of the means by which digital assets may be used in money laundering, sanctions evasion and the fraud activities
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent client engagements, including engagement planning, quality review, resource management, financial management, and risk management.
  • Experience managing client relationships and advising senior stakeholders on compliance, risk, or investigative matters.
  • Experience leading teams, including coaching, performance management, and development of practitioners across levels.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience leading AML risk assessments, BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance program development and enhancement, compliance reviews, investigations, remediation programs, or enforcement response efforts in digital asset or fintech environments.
  • Experience interacting with regulators, auditors, legal counsel, or compliance leadership on AML or sanctions matters involving digital assets.
  • Experience designing transaction monitoring frameworks, investigation protocols, or suspicious activity reporting processes for crypto products or services.
  • Experience using and implementing RegTech and blockchain forensics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM, Solidus Labs) in financial crime compliance programs.
  • Advanced degree or certification such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Juris Doctor, or blockchain analytics tool specific certifications
  • Experience contributing to business development, proposal leadership, account growth, or market-facing thought leadership in digital asset AML or financial crime topics.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $171,600 to $338,300.
