Senior Manager, Development - Overview

Reporting to the CEO,the Senior Manager, Development and A&D is responsible for optimizing thecapital expenditures of Canlin Energy Corporation through planning, directing,coordinating, and evaluating development activities. This position is responsiblefor providing strategic direction and leadership to Exploitation/ReservoirEngineering, Geological & Geophysical, and Acquisition & Dispositionactivities.

In addition to leadingand motivating the team, the Senior Manager, Development, will progressapproved Development projects, conduct commercial and financial evaluations,manage due diligence activities, negotiate agreements, and oversee developmentinitiatives from opportunity identification through execution. The successfulcandidate will ensure continuity of ideas, investigate and communicate risk,and effectively execute the highest quality prospects and opportunities for theCompany.

The Role
  • Continuously monitor available industry packages and recommend acquisition bid levels with the consultation of the CEO and Senior Leadership team. Evaluate and recommend asset disposition projects and unsolicited bids on assets from time to time
  • Overseeing execution strategy of the development program with the expectation of delivering top quartile operating performance and costs, and best in class safety performance.
  • Building and developing the facilities and operating organization (people and processes) to support operations and growth objectives.
  • Setting, supporting, and monitoring near-term and longer-term operating performance targets.
  • Identifying new areas of opportunity to enhance operations and development activities to drive value creation.
  • Monitoring operations and budgets, ensuring that all capital expenditure activities are executed in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Coordination the Company's, facilities, production and joint venture activities to meet Development objectives.
  • Providing improved work alternatives and business processes; implementing best practices across the organization.
  • Ensuring effective internal communication, processes and procedures.
  • Making recommendations to the Company's leadership team in overall asset strategy and acting as a senior representative to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Regular reporting to the CEO, to outline operating progress.
  • Overall, to create value via project execution and operational excellence.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Person
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, geology, or a related discipline and active registration with APEGA.
  • 15+ years of oil and gas experience within the WCSB with solid technical, business and management experience.
  • Significant exposure to, and technical depth in, production operations with solid understanding of production engineering and operations optimization.
  • Substantial exposure to natural gas production operations and resource play developments, experience managing conventional and unconventional natural gas operations.
  • 10+ years' experience evaluating acquisition and disposition opportunities of various sizes in the WCSB with good technical judgement and intuition of assets that are a good fit for the company Demonstrated success as an operator; capable of delivering exceptional results through an efficient, competitive and low-cost operations mentality.
  • Strong business acumen and a broad understanding of the E&P sector.
  • Well established as a reliable and effective manager of teams in a growth-oriented E&P environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and to establish best-in-class practices while applying disciplined planning and risk management principles.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills and top tier organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to structure and close, with the assistance of Land and Legal, various sized Acquisitions and Divestitures both through internal process, and using various external Advisors.
