This is a six-month temporary role.

This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Communications, the Senior Manager, Content and Editorial Strategy, oversees the creation, alignment, consistency and co-ordination of external communications across all platforms. In this role, you will also drive the original content strategy supporting CBC/Radio-Canada’s broader corporate strategy and manage the brand’s social media ecosystem.

Business and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute the content and editorial strategy supporting the 2025-30 corporate strategy, enhancing CBC/Radio-Canada’s brand positioning and visibility.

  • Establish, implement and maintain quality standards across all content (tone, style and substance).

  • Protect and elevate the CBC/Radio-Canada brand reputation across all communication channels.

  • Develop and execute the social media strategy across key platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Meta), including executive communications for the President and CEO.

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of advertising and engagement campaigns promoting CBC/Radio-Canada’s role as a public service media organization.

  • Develop, manage and maintain the master editorial calendar.

  • Oversee editorial content creation across communication channels, ensuring messaging and language quality.

  • Support crisis communications planning and execution as needed.

  • Define campaign KPIs and analyze performance metrics to continuously optimize initiatives.

  • Provide guidance on best practices to leadership and internal teams.

Strategic Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with leadership and teams within Corporate Communications and the broader Corporate Development group.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal, local and regional communications teams across CBC and Radio-Canada.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with the CBC and Radio-Canada social media teams.

Resource Management

  • Lead, mentor and inspire team members by setting clear objectives, supporting career development and cultivating a collaborative, positive and engaging team culture.

  • Set objectives and priorities for your team in alignment with Corporate Communications strategic objectives.

  • Oversee the budget, ensuring sound financial stewardship and optimal ROI.

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of social media strategy and operations, ad management platforms and web analytics tools.

  • Sophisticated understanding of the modern media ecosystem, commitment to journalistic independence and ability to adapt communication styles for creative and unionized environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and engage diverse, cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a bilingual environment (English/French).

  • Strong writing ability in both official languages.
