Full Job Description
This position will manage a team of examiners handling a variety of excess construction claims involving bodily injury, property damage and construction defect. This position will report to a Senior Director in the Casualty Claims group and be responsible for conveying the organization’s objectives and priorities to staff and measure progress towards stated goals.
Responsibilities
• Monitor and direct new loss assignments for excess construction claims
• Confirm coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
• Review and approve correspondence and reports including coverage position letters and Large Loss Reports
• Review and approve reserves and settlements in excess of the authority of the handling examiner
• Assess and evaluate individual examiner and team performance, provide feedback, and address training needs
• Make recommendations concerning reserve changes to senior management
• Participate in review and discussion of large loss activity in the construction book with interested stakeholders (Underwriting, Actuarial, Executive Management)
• Ensure that team adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal performance objectives
• Prepare and distribute reports by collecting and summarizing information
• Assist in preparation of budgets, evaluation of expenses, and assessment of resource needs
• Foster and encourage strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Actuarial)
• Assist in identifying industry and coverage trends
• Promote and enhance strong relationships with customers and channel partners
• Participate in special projects as requested
• Travel to other claim offices, mediations, trials, and conferences as required
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree preferred
Certification
• Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
• Insurance certifications or affiliation with industry group preferred
Work Experience
• Minimum of 10 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in managing claims examiners at the Senior Claims Examiner and/or Executive Claims Examiner level

Pay information:
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $118,960 - $163,570 with a 30% bonus potential.
