Job overview and responsibilities

The Global Procurement (GP) organization at United Airlines is responsible for, among other things, procuring goods and services and developing/managing relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to United improving levels of quality, service, and technology.

The Global Procurement Asset Trading Senior Manager leads optimization and execution of organizational asset and component strategies and processes to ensure timely and compliant acquisiton or sales practices. This individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive trading excellence supporting United's strategic trading objectives.

Oversee all aspects of asset trading for assets and components, including managing component-level parts that make up engines and airframes, strategically establishing sales channels, asset teardown oversight and developing strategic sales pathways for aviation assets. The role is pivotal in ensuring the highest value is extracted from surplus materials, maximizing sales profit, managing logistics required for execution and ensuring regulatory compliance in all transactions.

  • Develop and implement acquisition and/or sales strategies aligned with company objectives. Lead the acquisition and sales strategy to ensure the effective execution of these strategies. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions while mitigating risks. Relay routine enhancements to agreements, communication of demand/volume/market changes, updating contracts and sharing end-user feedback. Promotes co-operation and communication between internal stakeholders across participating entities.
  • Leverage market analysis to identify potential opportunities and threats to the acquisition or sales strategy. Ensure alignment, anticipate changes, and drive activities based on supply market changes and recommendations of task forces. Understands supplier market dynamics/intelligence and use it as input into the strategy Monitor and report compliance to Source-to-Pay (S2P) process per entity.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards. Oversee risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and asset trading-related risks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing asset trading team. Provide guidance and support to enhance team skills and capabilities, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • 5+ years of consulting, sourcing, legal, audit, or finance experience plus 3 years of management experience

  • Good business acumen and demonstrated capability of managing complex projects
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
