Position Summary

The Senior Manager, A&D Program and Portfolio Management role for the J&J Technology Acquisitions & Divestitures (A&D) team reports into the Director of A&D Program and Portfolio Management and is responsible for supporting and enabling the team's strategy to drive effective, efficient and compliant execution of the J&J A&D portfolio consisting of acquisitions, divestitures and licensing deals across the business sectors.

The role is responsible for establishing and managing program governance across the entire A&D portfolio with a focus on driving consistent process and deal artifacts, articulating clear value statements on deals, managing budgets and financial forecasts, managing portfolio, resource allocations, ensuring organizational milestones are met and reporting on team progress to leadership across the organization. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration with the deal leads and their teams to achieve project milestones, mitigate risks, and deliver results within scope, budget, and timeline. This role should be well versed in the approach, process and toolsets, necessary to execute an A&D deal and will be in a leadership role to train and support the overall organization in meeting a high standard for compliance, consistency and efficiency on all deals. This role will also be responsible for highlighting and driving improvement opportunities across JJT A&D with the goal of driving them to completion with clear measurements of improvement against the overall organizational effectiveness. This role will also require some depth in reporting and data analytics to be able to clearly articulate the organization's deal value proposition.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Alignment of JJT A&D Business Value Statements and Measurements - Monitoring, Value, and Metrics Reporting
  • Implement performance monitoring tools to track project progress against benchmarks.
  • Conduct monthly portfolio reviews and weekly project status updates to ensure alignment with goals.
  • Use financial management reports and lessons learned sessions to refine processes.
  • Define and document the project end state, including lessons learned and final metrics.
  • Align business separation strategies with workstream objectives to substantiate value impact.
  • Utilize Nexus and Polaris reporting platforms to highlight delivery against OKRs. Support the A&D organization in establishing and driving key deal value performance metrics in support of ongoing OKRs.

Guidance and Structure Across A&D Deals including standardized processes and artifacts
  • Develop a consistent framework for planning, execution, and closeout phases across the deal portfolio.
  • Align reporting formats and cadence for all workstream project plans in Nexus and Devensoft.
  • Utilize tools like the RAID Log and dashboards for tracking risks, actions, issues, and decisions.
  • Create a consistent data model, templates, and insights across the end-to-end process.
  • Enhance playbook methodology, tools, and templates to improve quality and accelerate execution.
  • Develop tools and templates to refine processes and reduce risks through lessons learned.

Strong Engagement with Deal Leads and Programs
  • Ensure proactive leadership and coordination by the Deal Management team to minimize challenges during transitions.
  • Establish clear escalation pathways and protocols for unresolved issues.
  • Conduct regular assessments of project performance and progress, using monitoring tools and metrics.
  • Focused partnership directly with the A&D project teams on project management approach at the deal level including the consistent delivery of key artifacts.

Portfolio Budget Financials, Resource Allocations, and Forecasting
  • Track and report costs systematically, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Manage deal applications information in Fusion and engage teams in lessons learned.
  • Estimate, manage and track costs and resource allocations for current and future fiscal years as part of planning and budgeting process. Ensure entire portfolio is appropriately resourced with necessary integration leads.

Consistent Project Management Approach
  • Establish program governance, RAID, status reporting, resource management, and change management approach across A&D.
  • Ensure regular cadence of team meetings for necessary leadership and team progress updates.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for escalation paths and recurring forums.


Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance or related field.

Required Years of Related Experience:
Business Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in M&A or a related domain, with a proven record in managing both acquisitions and divestitures, investment collaborations and/or licensing deals; experience with program and project management methodologies actively applied to achieve business outcomes
Technical Experience: Demonstrated ability and track record in leading IT programs and projects across a global enterprise leveraging the necessary program and project management toolsets and reporting capabilities; robust knowledge of enterprise and sector technology platforms and capabilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Understanding of portfolio and program management reporting tools and technologies at the enterprise level.
• Experience in a matrixed environment managing cross-functional projects with a demonstrated ability to deliver on-time, in-scope, and on-budget results.
• Familiarity with integration frameworks (e.g., TIME) and Transition Service Agreements.
• Proficiency with project management tools and data analytics platforms to drive decision-making and performance tracking.
• Financial and business acumen.
• Highly adaptable and agile, with the ability to successfully drive results under tight deadlines while managing dynamic priorities concurrently.
• Skilled problem-solver and cross-functional collaborator.
• Strong relationship and communication skills.
• Must be able and willing to be a steward of confidential, business-critical information and accept associated responsibilities and restrictions based on role.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Minimum Education: Master's degree

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience with program and portfolio management in the context of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, particularly in the healthcare, life sciences or R&D industry.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Understanding of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and ways of working to meet evolving business needs.
• Hands-on experience generating prompts - creating, refining, and measuring prompts to boost workflow efficiency and performance.
• Understanding AI concepts and use cases, including agentic AI, with the ability to translate business processes and workflows into AI opportunities.
• Proven experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance personal productivity and/or department performance.
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams to identify AI requirements, evaluate feasibility, and accelerate AI-enabled ways of working adoption.
