Senior Maintenance Specialist (Mechanical)

Contingent upon Contract Award

Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Senior Maintenance Specialist (Mechanical) in Pearl Harbor, HI. This role will provide both classroom and shipboard practical maintenance training and technical assistance on mechanical services, propulsion and auxiliary equipment repair, and habitability improvements on all classes of Surface ships within the Homeport of Hawaii.

Job Description:
  • Provide technical support as required to ships force for the assessment, fault isolation, repair, and final adjustment of specific items, systems, and equipment and conduct functional checks and operational tests of those systems onboard ship.
  • Supervises others and manages one or more multiple jobs. Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
  • Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Qualifications:
  • Must have an Associate's degree in appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university and at least 12 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree at least 2 additional years of technical experience will suffice.
  • Must have at least 12 years' experience in operations, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine propulsion machinery.
  • Must have at least 6 years of experience in a position of supervisory responsibility over a subordinate workforce involved in the physical maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment systems.
  • Must have at least 5 years' experience with shipboard propulsion plants or auxiliary machinery equipment and/or nuclear-powered propulsion plants maintenance as well as experience in administration of the Navy 3-M and supply system.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as a technical instructor.

Security Requirements:
  • Must have and be able to maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

TravelRequirements:
  • Occasional Travel- less than 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidates must be able to obtain (no later than position start date) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to travel and work in shipyards and on US Navy Ships in port and underway.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and talk/hear.
  • Require moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
